Chance of Europe? Allardyce massively overachieved to get 8th, their fans are in the same league of delusion as Newcastle to believe they can better that. They'll scrape 9th after they sack Silva in the next month or so.

That may well be true but lets face it - their owners will fire a manager for not getting into the Europe, while Roy would be on a bus parade down North End if we got into the top half.

Their fans are deluded - not so Newcastle's I'd say. Wh

Because Watford have never done anything original? Well apart from banning the sale of alcohol in the away end.

I’d take Tosun btw - reckon BFS told him to say what he did about us to ingratiate himself with the EFC fans. It wasn’t long after he’d said he would have been a Palace player if things hadn’t been left too late for his club to replace him.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

He’s a good player. The reason he didn’t come to Palace before as I understand it is because Palace went in for him too late in the transfer window and couldn’t get the paperwork done. Let bygones be bygones

A lot of people claiming he's a good player, other than a scorcher in the champions League a couple of seasons ago, where's the evidence of this?
He scored 20 goals in 33 league games for Besiktas in his best ever season, which made up a third of the total goals he scored for them in all competitions over 142 games.

Outside of this, his stats aren't good, occasionally getting 10 league goals a season in inferior leagues. I've seen him play twice with my own eyes and cannot understand why he's even on the radar.

Everton happy to offload him for £20m:

If true, what a bargain.

When he joined Everton he said something along the lines of if Palace had made their offer sooner he would of joined us.

What he actually said was he was glad Palace dragged their feet as he didn't see Palace as a step up from Besiktas.

If he is available for £20 million and we did put a bid in for him in the past then who knows, although I very much doubt the bid was anywhere near that amount when he was at Besiktas. Everton clearly paid too much at £27 million.

Everton want £20 million? ... can't we sell Wickham to someone up north and put down the deposit?

27 year old player (peak of career) who is very strong and also runs a lot in open spaces. Works very much to pass the ball in front of the opposing net for other people to score too.

At top level (Premier League, Champions League and International) he has 20 goals and 6 assists in the last 2 seasons (that's 26 in 4000 minutes of gametime, a pretty awesome return)

In secondary competitions (Turkish Super Lig, the Europa League, the EFL Cup or the Turkish Cup) he has 23 goals and 5 assists (that's 28 in 4300 minutes and I'm excluding here 9 penalty goals that he converted)

Yeah, now that I look at it it doesn't seem amazing, but I mostly like him for his movement and dedication. Maybe not worth 20 million or even 15, but certainly one to be considered.

His 15/16 season, before the stats posted above, was amazing though, maybe he could get back to that form if he plats constantly and doesn't get so few minutes.

A loan with an option to buy would be good. You could certainly negociate 15 or below with Everton in the summer, even if it stipulates 20 million now.

Well argued, excellent post. Do you think we have representatives competent enough to secure the suggestion in bold?

I'm not confident.
