They weren't designed for this purpose, it's just becoming a natural end-game the more they progress. If you're going to blame anyone, blame Charles Babbage, Robert E. Kahn, Vint Cerf and Tim Berners-Lee. I'd also say they're more turbo-capitalist than neo-marxist.
