Corse there’s been progress ffs. Before we could only rely on counter attack and pace. Now we can compete by playing proper football Unfortunately benteke has lost the plot, if he was still half decent we’d be half decent. You would never have posted this last season when Roy won a few on the bounce We’ll buy a striker in January or loan a decent one I’m certain Joe Ledley v McArthur Truth is, anything better and we are talking Everton territory. And we just aren’t..

The truth is that we are in for another battle to stay out the bottom three, we have had an easy start (Liverpool excepted) and the fact is that we have struggled against teams around us and have had some luck in getting the points we have so far. Lack of investment in the team during the summer is partly to blame and the reluctance of quality player wanting to come to CP for whatever reason. The progress of Bournemouth is an example of a team that has invested wisely in quality players that have come to the club and have delivered on the field. Why quality players find the thought of coming to palace so toxic I just do not understand.

It's our recruitment. Teams like bournemouth, wolves, even brighton seem to find players relatively cheaply who do well in the premiership. We pay a lot for 'premiership' players who on the whole have been dissapointing. Edited by spartakev2 (04 Oct 2018 3.29pm)

To illustrate my earlier point here is a short list of teams who (as little as two years ago) many would have thought were safe bets for a mid-table finish:- Swansea City To be fair, that's s very small list to illustrate you're point 🤔

Our record on transfers is no different from other clubs our size.

I find it funny that people still think if a billionaire bought us that we'd suddenly become free spending to move up the table. Three words: Financial Fair Play. We are where we are and are confined by our stature until we get a bigger capacity, win something or increase our income somehow other than a rich owner putting money into the club. Clubs like Chelsea and Man City were lucky to get money pumped into them before the drawbridge was pulled up for the rest of us.

This does seem to get bandied about a lot and I'm still unsure of how it works when the club we are playing on Saturday, Wolves can supposedly spend £70 million or so in the summer on their squad ?

I really think something is not quite right at the moment. We are not playing with the spirit we were at the end of last year, we seem to be blowing hot and cold IMO. Wilf has gone off the boil since the Watford game. Just hope Roy can put the fire back asap

It’s all about our strikers for me. Benteke and Wickham are both quality strikers, or were, We’ve been incredibly unlucky to have one permanently injured for two years and the other one incapable of getting over a lack of form for one reason or another. If either were playing every week we would have been comfortably in the top ten last season. Also there’s obviously something wrong with our youth setup. Why are no young players coming through? Wan Bissaka only got his chance because we were so injury struck that Hodgson had no choice otherwise he would still be languishing in the youth team like all the others.

Start of season looked good with only Liverpool to worry about for 9 games. However typical Palace to just make hard work of it all. Then with few minutes to go at Bournemouth and being warned bl.... stupid Sako elbows and its a penalty. We only deserved a point yet f...d that up, why oh why cant these talented overpaid individuals do the right thing and stop mauling. The rules regarding grabbing/shirt pulling and hands around waists should be banned for all. In my opinion it would make for a better game and we would see the real quality of football. 7 games in and I am already sick of this season and cpfc havent fronted the other 5 biggies. After 61 years of support and spending thousands to fly over for matches from Oz you would think I should know better. As an Ex Selsdon boy cant get further away than Queensland but often wish I could. Its painful and Ive gone grey after years of frustration but it would be impossible to change my allegience at 76. Beam me up Scotty
