Good video, but when all this is said and done, we still have a squad MORE than capable of keeping us in the top flight for another season.

The players that have gone, were pretty much replaceable and whilst contributed last season (most notably Cabaye, they CAN be replaced with existing squad members).

The ONLY concern for me is lack of a striker and keeping Wilf from the vultures...if we do that then pulling in the purse strings for a season whilst making prudent signings of up and coming talent will do me just fine.

We've overpaid for mediocre talent for too long; Mutch, CYLee, Sako and Cabaye's wages combined should see us save close to ¼Million pounds A WEEK!

If we can also drop Wickham then that would be an added bonus

You think Cabaye and Cheek can be replaced with existing squad members?

Luka, Jimmy, Riedewald and Puncheon? Unless I’ve forgotten anyone that’s as as weak as it can possibly get before losing Luka as well.

I’m genuinely really interested how we solve the midfield without signing anyone.

You then have the issues further forward/out wide and forward.

Thanks - it will be interesting to see the analysis of their first Premiership season.

Swiss Ramble is the place to look for that. They do excellent work.

I certainly think Jairo can fill Cabaye's shoes with Luka alongside him, for sure. he's the best passer of the ball in teh side. Allied that to Cabaye's inability to last 90mins it's a no brainer...as for RLC, clearly his presence is a loss...but then there's always the chance we'll get him back; but did he 'really' influence games that much? We all get carried away when we see the odd flash of brilliance but there's a reason he's not in Chelski's first team...consistency. For such a unit he's woeful in the air...but when he breaks through the lines and draws the team forward...I would agree we dont have anyone that can do that elsewhere...but he needs to do it consistently for us to miss it tbh.

As for Puncheon...get rid of him...another £80k a week saved!!

I doubt Puncheon is on £80k.

Does Riedewald break up play enough and be a bit mobile covering that large square of space though? Hmmm.

How much of a chance has he been given....hmmmm?

People are too quick to make snap judgements, they see a bit of skill and thinks the sun shines out of a players arse...until its wayyyyy too late; and visa versa a player new to the british game is considered poor or not good enough based on performances in a struggling side. Give him as many game as RLC got and he'll shine...played exceptionally well at home to Man City when he was thrown back in.

The point being is beggars can't be choosers; and wether we like it or not we're not a club in a position to splash money out on players at the minute...so the only option is to play what you have or buy up and coming talent. The former will see us alright this season...we may not finish as high; but they're good enough to ensure we wont go down.

I'm leaning towards this line of thinking. It's patently clear that we have pretty much bugger all in the way of a transfer kitty as we pay most of our income on wages so we have little choice but to make do with what we have and blood a few youngsters (which we'd all like to see, AWB would never have got a game if Joel had not been injured and he's looked so comfortable)and hope we can sign a few cheap up and coming bargains or get some decent loan deals done. Thanks god we have Roy. It is all a bit worrying though...we seem to be drinking in the last chance saloon each season..and there will be a bullet with our name on it at some point if that's how we carry on. But what's the alternative ? Not trying to be all gloom and doom but looks like another painful season to endure with safety only guaranteed in the last couple of games..again. And I hope that's not being optimistic !

Far from being doom and gloom...its simply pragmatism....what really fooked us last season was the injury list...and even then we finished 11th!

I'm interested in how many games Nya Kirby will get this season tbh as I think he can do the water carrying role that Rudi was rightly referring to earlier as well.
