Can't complain, Croatia edged it in the end My only negative is like the Colombia match we tried to sit back and go for the 1-0, then again at 1-0 we also had some glorious chances like when Kane hit the post but Croatia also had good chances after they scored Just nice to go out of the tournament with pride and so many positives rather than anger and frustration as usual

The guy Southgate went with instead of Zaha in his first squad. Hadn't Zaha already opted for the Ivory Coast by the time Southgate came on board? Wasn't it Hodgson who repeatedly overlooked him?

I think that came after Southgate's first squad....if I'm remembering correctly.....I remember sending a miffed tweet off to Southgate. Edited by Stirlingsays (11 Jul 2018 11.00pm)

Yeah was when Southgate picked Townsend ahead of zaha for England squad despite zaha playing well for us and Townsend being s***. Zaha felt he’d never get chosen and then got tapped up by drogba and rest is history. Gutting as he’d have been guaranteed starter imo this World Cup and would’ve made big difference

My Eagle brother in New Zealand just contacted me bemoaning the FAs myopia over Zaha. It was bad enough with Victor Moses but Zaha’s case is just plain stupid! Can’t blame the player for looking to a country where he appreciated - just hope the same applies to his love of Selhurst Park!
Always remembering walking from the Holmesdale to the Whitehorse end at half time! |

Yep Pathetic bottle job. As usual, the minute they come up against someone decent, they capitulate. The only reason people have been deceived into thinking they're any good is because the draw happened to fall so that that didn't happen until the semi-final. Even so they were a penalty kick away from losing in the second round as usual, after a performance which should have told anyone who saw it what was going to happen in tonight's game. Chris Waddle went on about how England needed "a creative player", one who could change a game, pull something out of the fire and do something about it when things were going Pete Tong. I think Ivory Coast have such a player. England meanwhile had two shots on target, have created practically f*** all from open play in the whole tournament, and kept picking Lingard, Sterling and Dele Alli long after they'd all shown that they couldn't hit a cow's arse with a f***ing banjo. Meanwhile, the only player that had shown decent finishing with any consistency - Kane - is pulled so deep that he needs a telescope to see the other lot's goal. This "coming of age" England is the emperor's new clothes.

Mercurial talent rarely gets picked for England since 1971 2. He’s not in a top 6 team. I know Vardy and Maguire aren’t but there’s huge hype with Vardy, he won the league and they were desperate so had to pick a Maguire and go with 3 CB’s. 3. There’s plenty of ok top 4-6 team players in the front line (doing not enough or as much as someone who can make it happen on their own)

Yep. We beat all the team we should beat and lost to better ones. We will never get a better chance to make the final so I now feel that I will never see it happen. I didn't expect to anyway quite honstly.
