'Planning our route to the WC final'.

Mind-boggling.

A burden on the English team.

A motivation to the opposing side.

I wouldn’t call it arrogant. It’s hopeful, and taken from a song that clearly highlights our shortcomings.

We were hopeful with an easier route to the final if everything went our way, including going in 2-0 at ht v Croatia.

Can’t you see that? Do you dislike your country as much as that europalace?

"English journalists, pundits from television, they underestimated Croatia and that was a huge mistake," Real Madrid's Modric told ITV. "They should be more humble and respect more opponents.

That's actually quite generous from Modric.

Interviewer should’ve asked him how they were sh1tting it in the 1st half with Lovren fouling, cheating and whining for VAR at every opportunity. All very well claiming how great they are after 120 but the game could’ve been nearly over at ht with a bit of luck.

All footballers are hypocrites. The Croatia team can’t be too sanctimonious.

Let's wait and see the looks on their faces after they've been mullered by France in the final.

I dont see why. After struggling through their last 3 games they've somehow found themselves in the final. They were there for the taking and were s***ting themselves after 5mins...of course it was down to us to put them to the sword; but their win was as much to do with our own ineptitude than it was their ability.

Whoever went through was going to end up getting battered by France.

it was also a bit rich coming from a squad that insulted the Russian nation by bringing Ukraine into the equation after having beaten them...so much so that they got warned by FIFA....sanctimonious little cnut!

The articles I saw before the game were quite wary of Croatia and their quality in midfield.

Maybe he saw the predictions in the Daily Mail which had all the "experts" going for an England win..

Including those well know footballing personalities Nasser Hussain and Clive Woodward.

There was an article on the BBC calling Modric the best midfielder in the World.

The arrogance and condescending attitude just continues.

Croatia got to this final on their graft fitness and above all ability.

When things went wrong they were patient and played fluent football.

There could well be a big upset on Sunday.

Especially if France are as arrogant as us.

Has Wrighty ever achieved anything at WC level? I don't think so, nor any of the others really.

My only recollection of Wrighty was against Italy at the San Siro, in the last minute he had a simple tap in to make it 1-0 to England and he completely bottled it.

Do you know how snobbish it sounds when i hear people say "its coming home" ?
This motto is what got us killed in our recent world cup bid.

Football is a gift to the world, its home is anywhere a ball is kicked.

I cringe when i hear brits use this term, and its happening alot on TV lately.

Not Brits.
Just the English

This from Football365 nails it for me:

It sounds awfully twee, but I won’t apologise for it: “It’s coming home” was a self-fulfilling prophecy. Millions – of different age, background and ethnicity – singing that song together while celebrating each England goal and win was proof enough that football had already returned. The song was never about winning trophies but being proud of those who had been tasked with trying to win them. It was never sung with a hardwired arrogance or assumption of triumph – how could it be given our recent history? – but of enjoying the fabulous and unexpected ride.

The next competitive international England play at Wembley will come with a buzz, not a groan. Young players will yearn to wear the white of England and will demand to play regular first-team football to edge that dream closer to reality.

For that alone, Southgate and his players succeeded. They will fly home at the beginning of next week, five long weeks after they left these shores. But they will be bringing football with them. We are immensely proud of this England squad; it’s been too bloody long since we’ve said that.
