poor performance considering the players England have compared to Tunisia. Draw was fair result, Sterling offside for 1st goal.

The way the England players celebrated for the 2nd goal anyone would have thought they had won the final. Desperate.

Boy are you super-critical. Tunisia was quite poor and lucky to get penalty because of Walker's brain belch. Then again I can see where some would think you're a WUM.

Can’t believe anyone can complain about celebrating a last minute winner. We weren’t perfect but we won and that’s all that matters in tournament football. I’m sure Brazil or Germany would have taken a last minute winner and all the complainers on here would be saying how great they were for never knowing when they were beaten.

Tunisia are no mugs, they are Africa's best side, cast your mind back ten years to that clueless performance against Algeria!

And compare the petulance of Wayne Rooney to the coolness of Kane, a younger squad but seemingly more mature

Can you imagine if Southgate had secured Zaha what Wilf would have done last night. He would have terrorised them.
I’ve got mixed feelings about it though because he would have been one of the stars of the world cup which means he would have been a huge target for top clubs.
Watching this makes me realise where we could be next season and I’m thinking top 10

Best Tournament performance I can remember since we beat Argentina in 2002. First half was superb and should have been 3/4 up and out of sight.

Extremely soft penalty against us when you consider the rugby tackles on Kane. Who the hell was watching VAR to miss those?

Played really good football and carved out numerous chances against an organised and decent team. Dare I say it, probably the best team performanace of the tournament so far.

Would have been easy for heads to drop at half time but they dug in and got the deserved win. Panama should be an easier opponent. To top it off RLC was great when he came on.

We should have been 3-0 up at half time but perhaps it's not such a bad thing that we weren't as it's the low expectations that seems to be helping us.

Never a penalty, he walked into his arm and then went down clutching his face, however Walker should have known better as lots of players would do this. The rugby tackle on Kane was reviewed by VAR and not seen, I'd love to hear their reasoning behind not giving the penalty.

Panama were very poor but Belgium struggled to score against them. These so called lesser footballing nations aren't going to roll over (except Saudi).

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I kept thinking this. Every time in the second half we struggled to open them up I thought about zaha and how he’d have them repeatedly on their arses. Such a shame Southgate is a dickhead who chose Townsend ahead of zaha and forced zahas hand

Why slag off the manager (and former Eagle) after a good win ?

Was the only the 3rd time ever we won our first game at a world cup

This.

I thought we played good football in the first half but when they equalised I feared hear we go again. Never the less the lads battled on, the 2nd half performance wasn't as good but then Tunisia didn't venture over the half way line. RLC was great in his 10 minutes and must start.

I hope that we now have the monkey off our back and the team can relax and play. It has been a long time since we won our opening game which always puts us on the back foot and the pressure on the players just grows. Hopefully they now get a good nights sleep I am confident we will beat Panama and I think we will get something from the Belgium game.

C'mon England

I think we'll beat Belgium, I can't imagine a team managed by Roberto Martinez will ever do anything special

This and the familiarity of the players ie half of the Belgian team play in the Prem, should help us. If we keep improving up to that match then we have a good chance of beating them but not an easy game at all

Spot on.

We have an unbelievably cynical fan base who think that football is won on paper. This World Cup so far has shown that team spirit and organisation is very effective at this level, and based on the starts of the other teams in this tournament, I would say there isn't anyone to fear.

I actually think we are a team set up to play on the break, and should be more effective against teams that push out unlike yesterday. But we created chances and on another day would've won 3-0. It was interesting who stood up to the pressure though...as much as I was hoping he wouldn't be adding 0s to his price tag, RLC and Rashford offer way more than Sterling and Lingard.
