Currently,we have more rumours about who we are supposedly linked with than Fleetwood Mac sold records.

However, with Stevie paying himself a reputed £2.125m pa ( nice work if you can get it!!) the club being paid £143 m tv moneys and a net profit of some £14m,is that our business done this window???

And there was me thinking that were nowhere near as many rumours as in most other transfer windows.

If you read the rest of the accounts you will see that Steve paid himself a huge salary of £2.125m as you mentioned but he paid it all back into the company as it was just some sort of accounting manoeuvre

Even if he did pay himself £2.125 million, so what? Someone like him can earn that money elsewhere. What’s the problem. Although I take the point that he paid it back anyway.

Please note that this is entirely reactionary, my support for Palace does not extend to trawling the company accounts, although I am grateful for the info second hand.

We are reported to have made £153m profit last year after all the wages have been paid, so why is there no money for players and why do we have to sell any?

Let's keep the ball this season!

I think that you have added an extra nought onto the end and don't forget that those accounts were for a period ended a year ago and we have had another full season since then

Talk about our wage bill being too high and need to balance the books.May even have to sell players before we buy.
Think we only need two or three new acquisitions in any case with Roy at the helm for a while.

We have spent far more money on players and salaries than teams Our size and income - in the prem over the last three seasons. We have even spent more our than Chelsea! Think we have a net positive balance of around 15 million.

Well now you consider that those Americans want to make money from us and unlike Steve don’t care for much else. And we are about to spend big on stadium plans next year

We have top foreign talent earning £100k pw. Burnley by comparison, don’t have any players of this ilk, yet they earn the same if not more money than us.

Yes we are based in London, players wanna play here rather than there, but ultimately we pay the same salaries as clubs in the top 6. And unless we make the top six ASAP - we can’t keep it up

We have all been spoilt with the stature of incoming players over the last three seasons.

It will only carry on if our existing first players, players like Andros, unfortunately go the other way. So to make it plausible

The American project is to make money after they’ve built the club up with the new stand and possibly the Whitehorse end with another corner or 2 finished AND staying in the premier league. Therefore there’s no gain in them making money now that could be used to keep us up. I know there’s FFP but there’s also scouting and academy players to find and bring on.

We didn’t write the cheques for Benteke and Sakho by accident but we did because we haven’t yet sorted out the scouting and its policy.

I agree at some point we have to sell sometimes or we’ll never grow the numbers that can actually compete on the pitch and it’ll be 2 in and 2 out all the time.

Now’s not the time for hysterics. 1-2 weeks before deadline is more reasonable.

We've had 2 transfer windows since the last accounting period ended so whilst a slight concern it is a red herring regarding transfer activity.

Additionally any money owed to rival clubs in the uk is a protected creditor. They will get their money regardless.

With such a high wage bill and with excessive spending over the last few years we need to be careful but money will still be available for the right player, if assuming his current club are willing to sell.

Transfer activity in World Cup years is often quite slow until the tournament is finished.

Very true clubs are guaranteed their money but a factor is when and that has meant we’ve missed out on serious bids, whether that was to stay within ffp or just to know we won our best hand. It seems the latter and I’m talking about a critical specialist position with zero cover.

What do you consider a specialist position? Apart from a goalkeeper, which we have adequate cover.

I'm guessing striker as we started the last season with only one fit striker and were very lucky that the lack of cover didn't come back and bite us on the bum.

We've signed a keeper. Whats the issue? Pre season is only just starting out and the World Cup is not even over yet.

Wow!!

So now Newcastle are not only after Townsend but are in talks with WBA about signing Rondon.

Meanwhile,we have signed Guaita, deal agreed last Window ,the 14 year old and some would say, foolishly let Cabaye go without signing any high profile replacement.
Very sorry to see him go,as out and out quality and will blow our limited transfer budget to replace like for like.
Running a Premiership Club Steve, you are not running a firm of Accountants with a brief to cut wages down to a minimum.
Living in hope that Roy is leading negotiations as to one or two signings and not having players he does not particularly want, forced on him as per the last Window by Parish and his yes men.
