Great thread here, split between Pulis and Roy with Sam in the middle. Without Pulis we may not of had Sam and without him Roy. Happily have any of them at the helm as they have all pulled us out of the mire at different times.

—United States Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld

I think all 3 did brilliantly, so I cannot separate them. All 3 turned things around when we were floundering at the foot of the table.

It would be nice to have a season where we are not in a relegation scrap, but I guess we should be thankful that we have survived for yet another season in the top flight.

yes all 3 have done the job asked,Pulis had a tougher time, team only had 1 win in the first 11 games 12 if you count cup game only four goals scored 23 against so Pulis for me just,

but Roy has done well, because after the all the injurys we still had some good players on the pitch so he could still get them playing the way he wants which helped, and other teams around us didnt look that far from us.

Sam was lucky in my eyes we almost went, only a poor Hull team kept us safe but he did buy well at the time

All of these (and yes Padrew too) fire fought brilliantly. The trick is to sustain form into additional seasons and motivate a team to muddle along with no real worry of relegation.

Pardew had better than all, fact. Pulis and allardyce never looked interested in sticking around but both done decent jobs with our team and hodgson I really belive next season we've got a great shout of getting Europe.

Also, there was the guy who helped Dougie ... but I can't remember his name either

Lennie Lawrence?

Some posters are perceiving this thread to be who is the most popular manager out of the 3 which is incorrect.

Yes Pulis is a dodgy lying c*** which was proved in court which has tarnised his tenure here but you can't doubt what he acheived here was nothing short of a miracle.

He had by far the worse squad to work with & many of the players were Championship standard & we looked dead & buried by November but we finished 11th!

All 3 have done fantastic jobs here but as 1 poster here said if it wasn't for Pulis then the other 2 wouldn't have had the opportunity to save us because we wouldn't be in the Prem!

Pulls for me too. We were as good as dead and buried in Oct before he took over and transformed the team.

He did, but then look at Sam and Roy again. When Roy took over we didn’t even have a goal to our name let alone a point!

Agree with this - on this measure has to be Pulis.

However, in terms of likability/personal attributes, in my mind Roy would be streets ahead. It’s been great to have a gent in charge - and one of our own. I’m anticipating a more stable or even progressive 2018/19 season, but can’t help but feel some unexpected calamity will strike - requiring yet another Houdini feat.
