Sorry but threads like this one are pointless.

My biggest concern about this thread is....
Where is Matteo? This is right up his street.

Ward Prowse has stood out in every game I’ve seen him play. Good dead ball and he scores goals. Industrious certainly with end results like a 2015 James McArthur with goals and more technical skill. Yes please!

Bertrand rather than Shaw
Long rather than Austin
Buy RLC
Grab Shaquiri and let Andros go.

As for Iniesta he will go for his payday somewhere easy. Wouldn’t want us to match those wages.

Brilliant set-piece delivery.
Has videos of all David Beckham's free kicks and his heroes were Beckham and Gerrard.

Plays for Southampton but his family are supporters of their deadly rivals Portsmouth and he grew up supporting Portsmouth !

Yes I have been very positive about how Hodgson has done giving us a chance of survival after we had 0 points after 7 games and hadn't scored a goal.

All I am doing is being circumspect about our chances. The 'Mood Music' appears to be that after the Brighton win we are all but safe, but there could be lots of twists and turns until the end of the season with perhaps a 'sting in the tail' or two along the way.I would temper optimism with a degree of caution.

I don't think that is the case. To quote you on a previous thread "We are definitely going down".

He disappears for three months at a time, his parents must travel a lot, or not pay the internet bill from time to time to time

Just joshing, but yeah he does disappear for three months then comes back and takes over

My realistic 4 would be...

Jack Butland (maybe less realistic)
Nathan Redmond
Ward-Prowse
Jay Rodriguez

Wilshere to replace Cabaye

We should have signed him on loan to see which version of him would turn up. Now it's an expensive gamble, but when he's good he's very good and would justify the Benteke-esq wages. ...as long as we get rid of Benteke.

Whilst he could go to a champions league side as a useful squad player who adds to a British quota, he would be the main midfielder here and allowed to flourish... if he keeps himself in shape. If he's fit and in form for palace he'd play for england. If he's in Chelsea-type europa league/reserve side, he'd only be peripheral.

Twice in the past we could have signed him for a bargain price. unfortunately we had Holloway in sweet shop mode.
