Never said that but in this case it is. The police did what they had to do in arresting him on suspicion of murder in the first place and now he’s rightfully walked free facing no further action. But how much was that down to public pressure?

He was in his 'home' ie the one space in this world where any of us should feel safe. Cross that line and frankly, expect the worse. We'll agree to disagree bud.

The only minor issue I'd have is that they should have used suspicion of manslaughter.instead of murder. But for all I know using that might enable the police to dismiss it out of hand more promptly than the former? Edited by Stuk (07 Apr 2018 12.04am)

So anyone found dead in your own home is fine? Police have to rule out all possibilities, no matter how obvious it may seem at face value.

To investigate is fine and an obvious requirement. To arrest in all cases is not.

According to the tabloids the grieving friends and relatives have left flowers at the house where the dearly departed err departed. Radio is reporting that the neighbors have now departed the flowers. I am not in favour of people building shrines where someone has died. If only there was some place where people could mourn and leave flowers whilst not disturbing or being disturbed by other people. Edited by Badger11 (10 Apr 2018 8.05am)

The media are reporting that the flowers have been put back. I don't know who tore them down but if it was his property they were attached to then he was entitled to. If flowers are left on the pavement it may be annoying to the home owner but it should be the responsibility of the council to remove them. If someone tied flowers to my garden fence I would pull them down. I say the above on the assumption that the grieving family have not asked permission.

This evening's news showed the flowers etc had been put back up again, only for a man to come up and tear them all down and stamp on them. I can't imagine people have any legal right to stick flowers, cards and balloons to fences etc where someone has died, but sympathize with the police who would be condemned for removing them. Personally, I think the place for flowers is the graveside-not a street- and piling them up in a place where the armed career-burglar met his shameful end is a demonstration of his family & supporters' lack of sensitivity to the neighbourhood.

They can build a shrine to him in their pikey camp. They've done it to be confrontational, not to grieve.
