Liverpool wouldn’t have left it so late and the margins wouldn’t have been so slim had Sakho not been in the team. He literally won everything in the air and mopped up most balls coming through as well as advancing the ball up field out of defence all game. We should have had 11 men behind the ball defending that point with 5 mins to go. Especially when you’re playing against Mo Salah. That’s the main reason that Liverpool equalised I’m afraid.

Yes he had a poor game, but more often than not he’s one of our best. What is it with people constantly picking out players for criticism all the time?

Can’t argue that Sakho makes mistakes but I think it’s harsh to blame him for the loss on Saturday. For once the MoTD analysis got it right: Zaha and PvA were more at fault.

I concur with the sentiments about Sakho was was culpable for both Liverpool goals. Two players who cost combined fee of over £50 Mill hardly covered themselves in glory yesterday. Both playing their former employer are we really surprised ?

While I accept Sakho made errors against Liverpool, and is a flawed player, I think a lot of the tone is too aggressive in this thread. No players are without flaws. Sakho's technique doesn't look right to me for the things he attempts, and he does have the odd rush of blood, but actually he is highly effective most of the time. And with Tomkins we would see a much more effective, assured defender. My big issue with Sakho is that I worry his unorthodox techniques -- unusual running, tackling and even how he kicks a football -- are what have caused him to have a fairly poor injury record throughout his career. As a player, I also think he is generally superbly reactive rather than being a proactive, leader/organiser. But all the above said, I don't hugely hold Liverpool against him. And if he plays all six of the final games, our chances of staying up will be much much greater for it.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

All this scapegoating is fine as a pastime, but the real important thing is that we are more likely to get the points we need with him in the team. Then we can worry about who is good enough at the end of the season.

Sako is always the one we would target when playing the Bin Dippers...always made a howler when faced with either Wilf or Yala...however, its way too easy to pick up on a players odd fault ignoring the good he does for the rest of the game. he will always have that in him because of how he plays...but it was amplified when playing for the scousers as he played alongside Lovvren...who is dog shyte. I agree he's not a world beater and I'd say that Tomkins is the more accomplished defender...but with Sako his over (in some instances) confidence and organisation adds a further solidity than we'd have if either Kelly or Damo were alongside Dann. For me it's more about the 'partnership' his fostering with Tomkins... Edited by Lyons550 (04 Apr 2018 9.26am)

I do like him, but goof grief he does give me kittens when he is on the ball. Unfortunately he has delusions of grandeur of this sublime ball playing defender. In fairness hes not bad, he does fine a pass more often than not but is the chances he takes on the ball that I hate. Its just not in his dna to 'get rid' which as we all know still has its place in modern football. Still have him in with Tomkins every week mind you, we are still a better team with him in it.

I am sick and tired of Sakho getting off week in week out without any criticism.I am not sure what you guy's think but if he keeps it up we could end up relegated. We are heading into 6 games were a single goal a will probably decide it and he looks to gift a goal every game. His failure not to head away the ball for the first goal yesterday had a massive part in costing us that game. It was absolutely disgraceful to attempt to chest that ball down when it should have sent back up the pitch. Every single week he is giving away the ball at that back and we are blessed that goals are not conceded. He is a complete liability. He got injured against Stoke all because of his own doing trying to mess around with the ball trying having to stretch to get it back then we ended up stretched at the back for weeks. He may have played a big part in keeping us up last season but I hope he gets he sold in the summer. People on here call Benteke arrogant and that he thinks he is above us, but I will tell ya's one thing. The moves Sakho makes week in week out quite clearly shows he thinks he is above us. Chesting the ball down in the box, backheel's in the box, shocking passes across the box, the list goes on..... They are the signs of a man who doesnt give a monkies toss because no decent defender would even dream of carrying on like that.
