Lets talk Wickham, as some folks mentioned him here. In a vacuum, signing Wickham was good business, he wasnt too expensive and many in the game probably feel he has not fulfilled his potential yet and could be very effective. The problem with Parish, time and time and time again is he cannot seem to put together any kind of cohesive strategy on anything we do. Wickham had a history of injuries, so great, go out and sign Wickham, but DONT leave the strike force so thread bare by failing in other transfer attempts that he is basically your number 2 guy, in a group of 2, because he has a history of injuries. Some players are simply more injury prone than others, and many people in the game try to understand why that is, sometimes to no avail apparently. Lo and behold he goes down with a lengthy and serious injury. The failure of Parish is depth in the squad. When you totally fail to have any kind of depth in attack, then when you get injuries or dips in form (which sometimes are created by complacency when there is no competition) you are opening yourself up to trouble. When Niasse's brother wanted a brown paper envelope we should have given him one, a season ticket, a dinner date with the crystals and a free pass to Speroni's restaurant, if that is still going. Dont make a habit of doing that but we were in desperate need, the club had targeted Niasse, had him in the building, and then didnt get it done. Parish really, really struggles to get it done. Look at this keeper we are supposed to be getting in, he is training with us already and still we havent signed him up. We went into the Spurs game without getting that sorted out beforehand. Why? Why cant we ever get something sorted out in a timely fashion? Something is wrong with the way we operate with the amount of time it takes to get deals to limp over the line, and the amount which fall through at the last minute. At least learn your lesson Steve? But no, again we go into the last day of the transfer window scrambling around like mugs. Wickham missed 8 games in the 4 seasons prior to signing for us, none of those injuries are the same as the one he has now. So you can hardly say Parish signed a crock player.

The guy had had some injury issues in the past, but a lot of players do. However is it a complete coincidence that ever since he pulled on the red and blue he indeed has been a crock player? Must be a coincidence. Man Parish is unlucky...... Regardless of Connor Wickham's injury history before we signed him, for many games this season we had zero fit strikers after getting rid of Murray, Gayle, Campbell etc. and not doing a proper job of managing squad depth. In this league not having a single fit senior striker is commonly referred to as a complete shambles.

If or when we are relegated, it will be his fault and his alone, he has allowed us to enter this current campaign with only one fit striker and with a manager that was on another planet, then he failed to deliver the six players Roy wanted in the last transfer window, last weekend showed how feeble we are, so much so that poor Roy had to put DD on for the last few minutes after Tomkins was taken off because he had no other option, even though he knows DD is too slow and well past his retirement date! Come on Steve man up and admit you are not up to your role as you see it! I think Parish is one factor, and isn't completely responsible for our current difficulties. Agree that we could have done better in the window but there are so many little things that we'll never understand regarding January transfers. Other factors include bad luck with injuries, poor coaching and management of the team from FdB (yeah, I realize Parish hired him but he seemed to make some pretty awful decisions), and a more limited budget than teams like Chelsea. One thing we should probably acknowledge is that some players don't want to play for us, no matter how much we would like them to.
