Care to prove this with data?

I merely pointed out that many of the world's most intelligent people were vegetarians. There are intelligent meat eaters in terms of IQ but if you can see that your diet is the leading cause of the destruction of the planet, leads to health problems and causes unnecessary cruelty to animals then its difficult for any person to justify continue eating that diet with logical arguments.

Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. Unaware that this Nature he’s destroying is this God he’s worshipping.

When given the information relating to how animal agriculture is the leading cause of climate change, leads to an increased likelihood of developing a range of diseases such as obesity, heart disease and type 2 diabetes and causes unnecessary cruelty to billions of animals then its difficult to justify continuing to eat that diet with logical arguments.

Depends on which doctors you listen to... More doctors are ow advocating eliminating meat and diary from your diet as many people are doing now and are reporting health benefits as a result of doing so. Of course you must replace the meat and dairy with healthy food in order to gain the benefits which many people are seeing. Some people have reversed type 2 diabetes on healthy vegan diets and others have improved the symptoms of other diseases.

Waffle.

The destruction of the planet will be caused by too many people not meat eating. Demand for meat is just a symptom.

I can see that - when you ate more meat you could only manage 5 facepalms; but look at you now!

I agree with you, however Rees-Mogg etc use Minford as a "serious" Economist on whose modelling and assumptions they base their entire case for Brexit.

They don't care about immigration or any of the social issues that people voted on. They just believe some unicorn economics will improve the lot of capital owners ever further.

What rubbish. Plenty of people knew.

The 'meat eaters' will continue to eat meat because meat tastes good and is nutritious. They are also in a large majority despite your efforts to make them sound like some kind of cult.

Maybe you shold eat some meat and grow some more brain cells.

I had no idea about the eye watering usage of antibiotics in farming, not to treat sick animals, but merely as a matter of course to prevent illness which becomes more likely due to poor sanitary conditions. Did you?

2/3 of all antibiotic usage is in farming and mostly preventative rather than restorative.

It's shocking that we're rapidly disarming our own ability to fight bacterial infection for the sake of eating appalling quality produce.

Eating any meat that derives from the kind of practices being revealed in recent months is bad for you.

Occasionally eating good quality, organic, well cared for and humanely slaughtered meat is fine as part of a balanced diet.

The vast majority in this country and many others eat too much meat and most meat they eat is of poor quality and harmful to their health. This is a social problem, which is being ignored by the government, and in fact they are talking about actively making it worse by undercutting current standards in order to do trade deals with the US and other countries.

What? Do you know how much food we need to produce to sustain arable farming?

Do you know how much land it takes up and in the process destroys?

Do you know the levels of carbon emissions caused by arable farming?

Demand for meat is a symptom of societal failure and a race to the bottom on standards of animal husbandry in the name of low low prices. It's a symptom of a lack of skill and knowledge in food preparation and the range of things you make with non-animal based products. It's a symptom of deficiencies in education. It's a symptom of growing and crippling inequality and child poverty.

It is however something that could be addressed quite easily, but lobbyists see to it that vested interests come before public interest.

I have been aware of farming practices for a long time.
The ugly side of farming is often a result of trying to meet increasing demand for food while keeping costs down. What I would say is that you can't trust anti farming sources to give balanced information.
We all know that failing antibiotics is a problem and if farming is part of that problem then I'm sure that legislation will follow. It is a balancing act between public health and protecting the industry.

It is in fact the exact opposite.
Demand for meat rises with population and questionable farming practices are often a result of the pressure of demand and profit.
