I agree with you. I thought it was a very sensible post until that bizarre claim - I'm afraid Uphill lost the plot slightly there. Back on topic - Cabaye is our key midfield player. Not only for the unsung (and clearly unnoticed) defensive work but also for his passing. Someone take the ball off him next time there's a corner or freekick. Milivojevic is best at dead balls and Milivojevic is also captain. Am I missing something here?

The guy's quality. Much better with him than without him, imo.

At goodison should certainly have scored or at least hit target following their poor backpass but to be fair had two reasonable shots .Rest of game took poor corners and chased Rooney around albeit a yard behind him

You can see his class but unfortunately his form has steadily disappeared. He floats a lovely cross field pass, whereas Luka strikes it when he does the same. I've never quite understood where the HF got the line "scoring goals for fun" for Cabaye's song. He has barely ever scored for us, we had a similar situation with Chamakh....

I feel like even the best in the game would have struggled to find the net from that, it was a half chance at best with the ball spinning at pace and 40 yards from goal, which he almost miraculously put away. Easily the most unsung hero in our team. Most interceptions in our squad by quite some way (PL Statistics) and also one of the few players in the squad with the ability to pick the ball of the back four and switch play or start attacks ACCURATELY. I think he is sorely missed when not in the team, and if we don't have a replacement lined up, would be ludicrous to let him go for free. Surely worth another year, especially when big clubs are sniffing around, highlighting his quality and importance. I wonder what people who can't see Yohan's importance think of the rest of our top 5/6 players

We are a much better team with him in it. Generally he picks up the loose balls won centrally by our defence whilst he is facing our goal, gets the ball under control quickly and on to someone facing the right way, often Luca. When he isn’t playing these balls that we have won often go straight back to the opposition. Facing the opposition goal he is a great passer and retainer of possession. Disappointed with his shooting, not that he gets many decent opportunities as he plays much further back than he used to at Newcastle. Currently his dead ball delivery is appalling and he should not be taking them. For me one of our best players.

If he can’t hit the target with that then he needs more practice.
