I really dislike the Premier League and how it changes it's rules always to suit big clubs.

You used to be allowed to say register 21 players they just had to meet the rules to do with homegrown also you could do short term loans which they have now stopped (they blamed the big clubs loaning out lots of youngsters for this change)

If we lost our last keeper we can apply for emergency loan which is not just this country you can get one from abroad but who would come we couldn't even get one when money was offered.

The problem with the rules is they are not set as yes you can it's a case of having to apply and see it they will allow it.

You can de register players that are disabled but again it comes down to what I was saying above and I bet we would be refused.

The football leagues rules are far better which is messed up all football in this country should follow same rule set.

How about this guy?

10 matches for the national team, should've had more. I can't remember how many times I've seen this guy save a penalty. Played at top level:
33 matches for Valencia last season
37 matches before that
27 matches before that

Brazilian Serie A starts on April the 14th. They'd agree to let him on a short-term loan.

Edit: Although getting a player from Brazil, Norway or Sweden, as their leagues start later, is easiest, other options I can think of are:
Carles Kameni- many years playing for Malaga, now 33, just 6 matches played for Fenerbahce this year (and those much earlier in the season). They'd agree to loan him IF YOU PAY THEM WELL.

Diego Lopez- formerly of Real Madrid, now 36, a short term solution. On the bench dor Espanyol this season after having played all matches last season.

Maybe Tottenham would agree to let Vorm on loan as they still have Gazzaniga.

I'd have also thought of Vito Mannone, who did wonders for Sunderland in the seasons they stayed up, but I don't think Reading would let him go.

Or get Victor Valdes out of his recently announced retirement

We have a 3rd keeper though aswell, it's not like we are actually short of keepers - we just don't want to play him.

Speroni is out all season. We're left with Hennessy and another who has no experience. Emergency loans may be allowed by the league if the last remaining keeper has made less than 5 apps. So in the rules we are short of keepers and aren't that stupid to not prefer an experienced keeper instead of one with no apps at all in this league.

We could have filled the 25th space with a keeper and still can, but are now considering signing a winger in this 25th spot. If this was another club near the bottom we were about to play and they had Nasri and an experienced keeper playing we'd have the hump, especially if the keeper was motm or Nasri was excellent, or both.

Who knows if this is clear cut but Parish could get a loan keeper in asap if he wanted and we'd make do with one of our available outfield players. He could've addressed the winger in the window but didn't know Zaha would be injured (although Sako) was.

It can definitely be argued some taking advantage of the loan keeper rules here, and/or save cash for competitive advantage next season.

This is still just a hypothetical discussion, am I right? I can't see anything, anywhere that the club are even considering Nasri. The link in the opening post is just to say Palace fans want him.

If he wanted to come here for the right reasons (i.e. to play football to the best of his abilities) then I would be happy to sign him, but I just can't see him wanting to play for a club battling relegation.

I think if possible we need to just sign a GK with some experience even if they're not brilliant, as if Henry had to play even being an optimist I would have to say we'd be f*cked. Also with Wayne's history of back problems an injury seems like a distinct possibility.

It is different than other suggested players though. Those were under contract. By now, all teams are probably aware of the players who are free, cause they're the only ones who could still be signed. And Nasri is the only one who stands out, managersa of all 14 clubs outside the top 6 are aware of this. For Nasri, I think the wages alone (which can't be supported in Spain or Italy)+ the fact that he has already played here mean that he's coming to the PL.
I'd wager that in the next month Nasri signs for one of Crystal Palace, Stoke, Newcastle, West Ham, Southampton or Leicester (only one with a French manager). The one mostly lacking wingers though is Palace, maybe West Ham and Leicester too

I actually think that this conversation has been the most serious and most on-topic I've seen on this forum. No fowl language, no temper tantrums, not bad talk about players someone doesn't like, just some people trying to figure out the current regulations and find a solution out of the fu**up the club has gotten itself into.

Cock to that

Roy was asked about Nasri yesterday. Says we would sign either a keeper or a forward but not a midfielder. So depends if he classes zaha and Townsend as forwards as they're who he'd compete with.

This looks like it won’t happen according to Croydon advertiser when asked about nasri he said good player but we need free agents in gk or forwards , in midfield we have enough cover , in other words his wage demands are probably to high and mr parish has said no !

to be honest, nasri was a fantastic player, yes his temperament wasn't always spot on but he is still a very good player. Would be a great player to get in for the remaining games. Parish wont like his wage demands however so doubt it will happen.

& with regards to signings in general

I just don't understand why our club makes it so difficult when signing anyone...

Should have got guiata in when we had the chance in Jan now everyone is panicking.

Should've got another keeper in knowing Guaita is coming for free in the summer. Hennessy or Speroni or both will have to go anyway. Any manager worth his salt will say so anyway. Whether Parish steps in and still keeps Julian on the bench we don't know. He did when Julian still had it under Pardew.

Also they're taking the risk with the league not sanctioning a loan keeper if we bring in Nasri in the 25th spot, knowing we have a keeper crisis we could've solved in January. Plus Wilf is back soon.
