Indeed.
But in our next 6 games games last season we attained 13 pts.Just look at our next 6 games this season.

I think we picked up 7 points from next 6 equivalent fixtures counting Huddersfield as Sunderland (wins at Chelsea and Sunderland and a point away at Everton). I think we'll get 5 or 6 this time round, which I would be happy with.

From the remaining 6 we got 8 points last season (counting Brighton as Hull). We should be capable of at least doing the same, which would be 35 points. Not many more required over and above that. If we get 5 from next 6 and 8 from last 6 that's 40 points.

Not outlandish.

Willo you have already made that point more than once that is why you are attacked. Once is enough. 40 points this season will have you about 13th because of number of sides so close together and they have to play each other.

Well said. PitB.

And as Alaneagle1 also said Willo you are posting exactly the same as you posted last season.

A positive 'Spin' and of course I hope you are proved right but speaking to a few supporters after the game yesterday the overall feeling was one of dejection with a realisation that we weren't going to survive.Remaining fixtures, lack of squad depth etc etc all came to the fore.

I will be distraught if we go down.At the start of the season when we suffered those losses I clung to the belief that the season was in it's infancy and we weren't that cut adrift. We are now at the 'Business end' and whilst we are not in the relegation zone we are only 3 pts above the 'Line' with some tough fixtures in the next 6 games.

Pray God we survive.

Not outlandish CE, but not necessarily Palace!

Two injuries straight after a poor window.

Could mean relying on academy players who have never even been on the bench let alone played in the PL.

I don't even know who they are, only Kalkai who we have loaned to Charlton in the usual generous Palace way.

Roy Hodgson must be furious.

The situation this year seems to be the same as the situation at the beginning of February for every year for the last five seasons.

Willo, surely you can gain some solace from the fact that your pessimism has been misplaced every year for five years?

I am clinging on to the idea that we will win 3 games between now and the end of the season - whether the wins comes from Brighton at home, or Chelsea away. Each draw will then take us a point closer to safety.

And only “4” points from the Top 10.
I’m not religious but as Gloria said “We will survive”.

In my humble opinion, yesterday was a 6 pointer.
We can't score goals and we've got a new number 9 keeping the bench warm when the rest of the team couldn't hit the target when a yard from the goal. Yes, not match fit I here you say, but surely these are games where he should be playing and anyone else who is half decent. We must beat the Newcastles of this world cause we sure ain't going to beat the rest.
Come on, where is the sense? We've been crying out all season for a second striker and the week he arrives we leave him on the bench, absolute ludicrous.
I find it all mystifying!

Realisation? You're talking like it's pre-ordained and there is nothing we can do about it.

You also seem to be unwilling to acknowledge that our next 12 games are no more difficult than anyone else's and probably easier than some. But that would defeat your incessant defeatism.

I would urge those to ignore the ridiculous allegations of "Troll".

I have looked at the next 6 games - Everton,Tottenham,Man Utd,Chelsea,Huddersfield,Liverpool. In all honesty how many points will we get ?

Looking at the 'Big Picture' I am seriously concerned about our chances and speaking to some at the game today I am far far being alone.

Some on HOL express a more positive message but all I am doing is stating how I feel.

You must have been suicidal this time last year to the day when we were on 19 points and had just got smashed at home 0-4 by bottom side Sunderland.

Out of interest given our current record of 2 losses in god knows how long and having to play Tottenham, Man Utd and Liverpool at home sandwiched between their Champions League and FA Cup commitments - why are you so full of doom?

Don't get me wrong it'll be tough but why write us off so early and why so full of fear when we've been in far, far trickier predicaments in recent years?

Roy explained his decision and it was utterly reasonable. He also pointed out that only teams at the top "drop points". At the bottom you gain points, so it's a point gained and one fewer we need to stay up.

I must say I find all this negativity quite baffling. We are in danger yes but by no means doomed and not many pundits/bookies have us going down.
