From Sky PALACE IN FOR BARNES Sky Sports News understands Crystal Palace are considering a move for Burnley striker Ashley Barnes The Eagles have been trying to sign first-choice target Khouma Babacar but are yet to reach an agreement with Fiorentina. Roy Hodgson has between £10m and £12m to spend on a striker this month and they are down to their final two options of the window. Burnley would be reluctant to sell Barnes, who has 18 months left on his contract. Nevertheless, we are told Palace could approach Burnley in the next 48 hours. Oh dear ... doesn’t sound great does it (I know media rubbish) but this is how we are being portrait in the media

I really hope we are going to pull a couple of rabbits out the hat. Frustrating to see our rivals being able to get business done. Got a horrible feeling we are going to be getting noting but Parish's stock comments about difficult window, wages are tight, what if the sun doesnt come up etc.

Parish won’t suddenly change. Look at the Mamadou Sakho transfer fiasco. Unfortunately we also have the Tosun and Niasse fiascos where we actually didn’t get the signing done and then had no time to sort something else out, particularly Niasse which collapsed at the last minute. If you listen to Parish on FYP a couple of weeks ago he says very clearly that he doesn’t believe you can sign strikers except on the last day of the window, other clubs seem to find a way, but not us, as the striker market is very tough, as per Parish. I don’t doubt it is tough, but it’s the same for everyone else also. So here we go again, Parish up to his old tricks, refusing to believe you can get value on a striker except on the last day of the window, and when it all falls through like the Niasse deal, we are left in the lurch once again with only 1 striker.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |

what worries me is that everyone we've been interested in has gone somewhere else and if it carries on tomorrow we will be back to square one!

A defeat to W.Ham tonight, no new striker and what is felt by the supporters is a 'Poor Window' and I suspect supporters will be somewhat incandescent with rage.

If Benteke stays on the floor longer than 2 seconds the camera fixed on Parish is what we'll be seeing. Could be for the rest of the season if the last hour tactic on a position with only one player fails again. Benteke certainly won't be busting a gut if we fail again, due to lack of competition and safety to keep himself available.

I envisage no new signings and Hodgson leaving in the summer and being replaced with Freedman.

Why didn't we get our backup striker in FFS? And I don't mean Murray. We need a top striker to challenge Benteke or on occasion play with Benteke and a back up striker. Get ANY striker with a half decent record in the Championship or someone on the bench for other Prem clubs (in the mould of Glen Murray if not Glenn himself) and get that done first week of the Window. Leave it this late to get the main target. Not the bloody backup.

If that radio show Tweet is to be believed, Parish isn’t happy with Roy’s/Dougie’s shortlist. Perhaps that’s why there’s been no strikers signed yet. Edited by Brentmiester_General (30 Jan 2018 6.01pm)

Edited by Brentmiester_General (30 Jan 2018 6.01pm) Uhm, let the people who's job is it to get the players in get on with it; too much interference, we hav ebeen down this road before & it generally costs us ££ to replace the manager etc, which leaves less ££ for the transfers. Lessons do ,not seem to have been learnt.
