Dietmar Hamann made me laugh on the radio once. He's only seen 17 films. Doesn't like films I think. There's another big footballer the same. I think he's playing now.

Long time since I've seen it, but I didn't think The Sixth Sense was all that. Saw the end coming a mile off. Although I thought it started off very well, I didn't like La La Land much either. That City of Stars theme drove me up the wall. I would probably have added Mamma Mia! to the list too, but I have no intention of ever seeing it even once. There was a similar thread on here some years ago, and my list at the time included Annie Hall and Midnight Cowboy (both of which won an Oscar for Best Picture). Annie Hall has some great moments in it though so I wouldn't say it was that bad now, but I've still never understood the appeal of Midnight Cowboy. It's all subjective though, and I'm sure many people love these films and think they're absolute classics - as much as I do Singin' in the Rain, Star Wars and The Shawshank Redemption! Me neither. I've had the misfortune of seeing a small clip of it and no one in it can sing a f***ing note, which should kind of be a pre-requisite of being in a musical. Blade Runner was toilet and the synthesiser did my head in. I'll add Gladiator, and almost any remake of a film ever.

Having watched the new Star Wars film last night I would have to add this to the list. Utter, utter drivel.

I liked it. I'm not sure what people want from an Alien movie. The only mistake Ridley Scott made with that film was listening to what people want. Couldn't live with the instant gestation thing, which then wasn't rigorously applied throughout the film. Perhaps as a stand alone space romp it can be thought of as OK, but it's not fit to wear the shirt of the first two Aliens.
Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune) |

Withnail's ok but hugely overrated. It's moderately amusing in parts but I don't get the whole "cult" thing that surrounds it. Other overrated or underwhelming films: Blade Runner The Blind Beggar before West Ham reminded me of this. Yes The Krays is toilet but the scene when Steven Berkoff playing George Cornell goes into the office in the salvage yard is some of his best, typecast, funny overacting. I don't know if the other characters are the Richardsons or Purnells. 118.30 mins in. [Link] Edited by Rudi Hedman (27 Jan 2018 1.38pm)

the Gary Oldman movie about Churchill...... longwinded, narrow in focus, ultimately boring. good acting, wardrobe, set design, make-up, sound effects. Poxy writers.
