Anyhow, let’s get back to what we do best: Would you?

I like the idea of people being suspended from posting in a particular forum for x days and for red carded members to be able to come back after a month or two. It's quite possible that this is just too much work for the moderators that we have. However. I don't read BBS but if red carded posters flounce off over there and start slagging off HoL then there can't be a way back for them. Feck em. Bring back LiamC.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

He could so eloquently destroy pretty much anyone. So many decent and funny posters have fallen by the wayside. When morgs, Pikes, Superfly, kav, and Dildo Baggins were all posting regularly I regularly had to stifle giggles at my desk. Even matt_himself used to be funny too.

I think red cards should be for 1, 3 or 6 months and if you come back and immediately repeat the offence then you're suspended for the next period of time up the scale. Just because it might be the nature of forums that every now and then loads of people are banned, doesn't make it right or even necessary.

Talk about over-reaction... This has happened loads on here over the near 20 years, it's nothing new! People get banned and others decide to flounce and stop posting... it's what happens on forums all over the internet. Flouncing is pretty pathetic to be honest! Anyway, the website policy has ALWAYS been that cards are never discussed on the forum. Now some mischievous posters, who are friends of a banned poster, have decided to stir the pot and start these threads. They have been rightly deleted. Now if anyone genuinely has a concern, then there is a 'contact us' and a private message function to discuss in private with the administrators. Funny how these people have chosen not to go down this route?

On face value, a person who uses this board as a party political broadcast has been banned and the only surprise for me is that it took that long. A handful of others who share his politcs have thrown a flounce about it, some of whom have now gone off to the BBS to whine on playing the victim just like they did on here. It's a pity that Jamie has resigned because his contributions were always eloquent, intelligent and often informative but he also betrayed his bias in moderating by allowing certain posters to get away with murder. I hope he continues to post on here in the future when the dust settles. This site is run a lot better than the BBS and I have no criticism except for the rather clunky style of the threads. Wasn't that EXACTLY why Penge set up a specific Politics thread, as it was getting tedious but at least they had a forum to debate to their hearts content. Just seems a bit odd that having done that, the cards, flounces started to happen...

Very few people have been banned recently and in fact just the one person was banned in the last few days with a couple of others throwing their toys out of the pram and asking to be barred from the forum a request which was complied with

No-one has been banned from HOL for their political views but human nature being what it is certain people just can't accept that their behaviour was wrong therefore it must be someone else's fault and the favourite excuses are that the moderators are biased. This particular moderator couldn't care less what political leanings people have and I preferred to keep out of the politics threads anyway. When I did read them it was purely to make sure that there were no personal insults being hurled about and not for the political views at all. Whilst I'm at it, just to dispel a bit more of the rubbish being spewed out by one of the barrack room lawyers I actually played no part in the carding of anyone or the deleting or moving of any threads but that doesn't suit his agenda so no doubt I will continue to be blamed for all of the ills of the world in his myopic eyes

I certainly think there needs to be a clear set of rules (and apologies if there are, but clearly they're not clear enough) as to how cards etc should be issued, timings etc. Also, and thanks for the reply Penge, as previously mentioned I think 'Polls' would be a good idea moving forward to foster debate. Also, I miss having perhaps two previous posts when 'quoting' sometimes, with just the one it's hard to get the jist of what someone is replying to.
