I think we are in danger of letting this small incident overshadow the fact that it was a fantastic game of football, the most thrilling 0-0 draw I can remember seeing and all our players, including JP should be extremely proud of themselves.

Ok, ok. I've expressed my point of view and so have many others Originally posted by YT
To conclude, all I'll say is that it was more than just 'a foul' and should have been 'punished' with a red card and long ban. I accept that some on here have made some points that they've backed up but, as usual, there are others who are alright living with double standards. If others do it to us, it's the biggest crime in history, bodily assault. If we dish it out? Part of the game - stop whingeing. That'll be football for you. Happy new year. Good grief; what a to-do! It was a foul. It got punished. It happens. Get over it.

Have to say I agree with the comments ive put in bold Didn't see it in real time as I was still griping about the penalty miss. Saw it on Sky Sports later and agree that it could easily have been a red. There's a lot of decisions that have been made recently that show the lack of consistency in refereeing - the Pogba, Kane and Alli challenges are the ones that spring to mind that got dealt with differently. Also agree with the OP that there would be a massive reaction on here had it been KDB or someone else on WZ or Andros. Edited by Charlie Croker (01 Jan 2018 1.13pm)

Physioroom says de Bruyne has a "knee injury" with no return date but "major doubt" rather than "No" availability. Puncheon has a "knock". Dann has a "knee injury" with a prognosis of "f*** knows".

What? a knee-high scythe with violent intent. No worse than we see are used to seeing? If that is what we are accepting as run-of-the-mill violence then things have arrived at a bad state for the game. No, the tackle was extraordinary in it's execution and intent. Bet you hated football twenty years back when the tackles were flying everywhere

We've recently seen Kane and Ali commit potentially career ending fouls but that was swiftly brushed under the carpet.

Yeh Deffo a pwaper nawty tackle from JP but lets be honest, when football was football then Billy Gilbert at Palace, Norman Hunter at Leeds and Ron Harris at some other little club would have only played two games a season in this day and age........

I only saw it in real time but to that I would add the many "challenges" made by Walker on Wilf and the assault on Benteke which saw him hit the hoardings. There were many fouls not given by Moss such as the shove on Wilf and despite all of this it was a good game, if Punch is punished for this other than the yellow card then football continues it's dive into total corruption.
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

It was a s*** challenge, but if there was any malice, Punch would have taken his belt off. I thought we'd get thumped yesterday so consoled myself with the fact I'd be watching some of the best players in the world. De Bruyne is one of them. A sublime footballer and one of my favourite non palace players. Am I not allowed to appreciate players from other teams.

I'm not sure the ref saw it properly, hence the yellow. Conveniently means he won't get further punishment. It was so late I didn't see it until the replay as the play had moved on so much. I suspect the ref may have also been looking elsewhere. At best the tackle can possibly be attributed to a lack of match-sharpness, but having just seen he was facing the wrong way during the penalty, the whole incident does seem bizarre. He'll escape a ban but that's irrelevant as he's confirmed he's not up to a first team place at present. Secretly I do love a filthy tackle
