We really need to buy a Keeper & at least 1 Striker! Also now Dann is out for the season & Sakho is currently injured plus has a poor injury record we need another Centre Half!

There will be money to spend & I would imagine about £30m but who knows? Maybe 1 of Willo's contacts knows!

IMO we should try to find a midfield player or winger who can find a goal from outside or the edge of the box when the opposition are behind the ball.

Badly lacking this since Puncheon's game fell off a cliff.

Luka?

I wouldn't upset the team as we're doing really well now but cover for Benteke and Dann (loan only) must surely be a priority.

If we want a loan for Dann replacement (which I agree would be the most sensible option), would we not have to let one of our current loanees go?

Fosu-Mensah would have been the obvious choice while Ward was fit and playing well, but it looks very unlikely we would do so now.

So then RLC?? As well as he's played for us, there is a case to be made that we could do without him (see last two games), and more so if we brought in another striker with the ability to also sit behind the main striker if needed. Particularly now Sako seems to have doubled his speed and skill levels from the last two seasons and is looking every inch the impact sub we need.

Thoughts? - I realise that only one page ago on this thread people were talking about trying to buy RLC, but our needs have rapidly changed and will further if a decent striker comes in.

I really can't see how selling or giving back anyone who has been playing regularly helps even if it frees up funds or a loan place.

We've only recently regained confidence and rediscovered the knack of playing together as a team. Surely, that is priceless?

For once, Parish should listen to his manager or risk losing him as well. We were tottering on a precipice a few months ago and we're not on terra firma yet.

Everton looking at Tompkins at a rumoured £20m could be one to free up funds??

Selling Tompkins would be lunacy, especially with Dann out for the rest of the season. When he is fit he is quality.

Agreed. Can't understand anyone who thinks we should even consider selling Tomkins.

We can't afford to sell any players that are part of the current cohesive structure. It takes time to develop the team play that we have now managed. We can let go of extra baggage. Now, about what we can 'afford' to spend in the window, should be countered by what can't we afford! We are not out of relegation danger yet. The second half of the season cannot be assured to be a continuation of our current form, as history will show.

What do we lose if we are relegated? I don't know, but I think the owners would have an idea. That loss, converted into money, dictates what we can afford. I think it might be more than 30 million...

We can still more loanees as long as they are from overseas clubs so let's hope that Dougie has been doing his job and sussing out some likely candidates

Getting rid of some of the deadwood will determine how much money Roy has to deal with. Mutch ,Lee and Delaney need to be moved on, Sako who was on that list has proven useful over the last few weeks, I expect him to stay.
Roy has done wonders with the shambles he inherited and deserves to be backed in the market.

Delaney can't be on high wages and is on a 1 year rolling contract as a backup to the defense. He should never be played except for a terrible injury crisis (we're one injury away from that crisis).

I don't see how moving him on can free up space for anybody. Would be a bit like saying move Speroni on so we can sign another keeper. He won't go for cash and we'd still need a 3rd keeper.

Mutch is correct but who wants him? Again, if we're holding out for 2million and wages to be taken off the books before we can sign someone, what does that say about the level of player we're looking to sign?

I think we have money to spend so am not concerned but if it was leaked we are waiting on a whopping 2 mill for Mutch plus wages for Delaney before all that money can be reinvested in Roy's entire war-chest I'd be protesting at the gates!
