it's the Seven Principles of Public Life from the Ministerial Code.

I really don't get this. The "coppers are out to get us" was always a distraction to try and save Green that ultimately did not work. Where the information comes from is irrelevant.

I find it quite concerning. The police were there looking for evidence of illegal activity, they found none. The officer in question then chose to divulge information about what other, perfectly legal, activity they discovered. I don't know what the law says but I, for one, find it uncomfortable that officers should divulge information they come across during their work willy-nilly with the sole intention of wrecking an innocent man's career. Anything a policeman discovers during investigation deserves to remain private or, at least, within the force. What if they searched someone's home for drugs, and discovered none, but loads of fetish gear - surely that person should still maintain his privacy?

I get a bit miffed on over sensitivity regards sex....which the country is still so frigging obsessed about....but it was certainly very unprofessional......though rather deliciously.....like some teenager caught with his 'hand in the cookie jar'...so to speak.... he still claimed it wasn't him.

I think it's like the hate speech discussion before. It's a gradual creep from both left and right to making almost everything some kind of crime. That way eventually as soon as you pop out of the birth canal you're bound to be guilty of something or other so had better watch it! With such a system in place it can be selectively applied and so it suits whatever government of the day or social outrage or token gesture is important at the time.

I must admit I do feel a bit bad for this fellow if it wasn't even him. He may well have not really been aware of what was going on.

A reasonable post.

You wouldn't want to serve in her administration, even if you were a saint she would believe something ill of you.

I guess a re-shuffle likely with slimey Hunt getting a position.

yuk......

The only human tory and they get rid of him.

A shocking and very transparent ploy to get him sacked.

What a shame we live in such a Machiavellian world where some scum bags will do anything to try and undermine the government.

Whoa, what? A copper is wrong for exposing the Deputy Prime Minister's mendacity and use of workplace IT that would get Joe Public sacked?

No one is above the law. Or are they?

Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune)

That may well be true. I was just trying to add a bit of nuance because it's very easy for people, left and right to cheer the downfall of someone who doesn't share their views. That's fair enough, but there is a downside to that kind of mentality too. It creates an unforgiving environment that's more cut and dry that real life often tends to be.

It's a rather strange thing to do when you are retired.
A cynic would think that there must have been an incentive.
