“Puncheon was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning and taken into custody after officers were called to the disturbance in Church Street, Reigate, Surrey Police said”

so he wasnt on the bench, and this event happened after the game....so that wasn't the reason for his absence was it.

He probably lost it on the night out realizing hes now not a first teamer anymore.

Apparently the residents of Reigate are to be offered counselling for shock as nobody has been arrested in Reigate since 1964 when Mrs Baker, the head of the local WI had her prize marrows stolen from her allotment....

How lovely those marrows were....
It was hard fitting them up my jumper but to this day we still have marrow chutney on boxing day with cold meat and mashed potatoes......
Thank you Mrs Baker..xx

I expect he's been fitted up by the gendarmes. He probably got involved to stop a fight, took a weapon from someone who was proposing to use it, and was found with it on him when they turned up.

Maybe his head isnt in the right place.....
We all go through s*** once in a while.....
Bet all those who slag him off were celebrating when he scored at Wembley.....
Come on .. Be fair, it hasn't even got to court yet...
Hes a palace man we should support him....
Some fukkin nasty comments about getting rid....
Very sad .....

At last someone making the right response, this player has been great for us, often!!...sad to see he has hit trouble when he is not doing so well just hope it is a nothing incident a threatening weapon can be anything at all.
Very sad to see such dismal responses from the "wonderful Palace support", we truly have become a premier league club.

Indeed, they can join in with the snivelling Tarquin mummy's boys, because we sure as hell don't need their sort at Palace:

An offensive weapon can include an 'intended offensive weapon' i.e. anything intended to be used as a weapon.

If you suffocate someone with a pillow then the pillow is an offensive weapon.

If he picks something up and says 'I'm going to do you with this' and looks like that's a genuine possibility, he'd have committed everything he has been accused of. Potentially a fairly minor offnce.

He's probably picked up a bottle or a chair or something. Either way, it's ridiculously stupid if true.

evening standard says belt. my neighbour killed another neighbour by lashing him with a belt when I were a nipper.

If he didn't actually use it, hopefully he'll be okay.

I've got a belt holding up my trousers. Is that a dangerous weapon too? The police'd definately lift me if I went out without it.
