HOWEVER the potential is admittedly there and if we can afford we should consider But I’d prefer shakiri tbf Edited by matthau (27 Apr 2018 11.58pm)

Earlier in thus thread I questioned RLC's form compared to those around him in the later part of this season but I'll take my hat off to him today, thought he was very good and contributed to a great result.

Whether or not we try to sign him is another matter - surely the crucial point would be the price. I can't see Chelsea selling him for under £30M and (as much as he's shown glimpses of excellence) I'd be far happier to take him on loan for another season rather splurge a huge chunk of the Summer of budget on a player who has - on reflection - failed to convince.
There is no chance, absolutely no chance, that we sign this player. When we have made big name signings it has been down to special circumstances. Benteke’s stock was low. Sakho is suicidal with his passing at times AND people seem to forget he had a massive fall out with Klopp. Cabaye wanted to hook up with Pardew and be a big fish in a small pond again. RLC will be in high demand as he is going to the World Cup. We don’t have a chance. What we need to do is sign a player who brings what he brings, as he was absolutely first class today.

Yeah fair enough Was the best World Cup wasn’t it? Nothing in the National game has matched that since, sadly. I feel sorry for today’s youth. That was a time when watching England meant as much as watching palace. Well, nearly.

Highly doubtful I agree, but there’s always a chance

After today's performance how anyone can doubt RLC wouldn't be an enormous talent and massively important if we could manage to sign him I do not know. He's a dream to watch. Must be a dream to play with too. Intelligent. Creative. Powerful. Stamina. Positional play is superb. I'd rather we spent £25 mill on him than a striker. He'd be in or around 10/15 goals and assists a season easy playing as much as zaha or Townsend. He frees up zaha to be the difference in a match so often it's great to see someone know he can assist the.l currently better and form player. Please sing his name more and you never know he may make up his mind on it and tell Chelsea he wants to go.

We pay top wages for one of the bottom half league sides, we’re London based and he might just think two years with us would be better than ten games in a Chelsea shirt compared. If we offer good money and first option buy back, and he wants in, it is possible The only question if that happens is, tekkers likely will be off as I’m sure we must be after a striker and we wouldn’t have any doe for one after buying loftus

I agree it’s unlikely, but there’s a part of me that hopes he’s taken to the club. I agree that Cabaye & Benteke at the time seemed a lot more likely. But I’m fairly confident bigger clubs than us would’ve taken Sakho at the right price & I genuinely think the fact he had a soft spot for the fans here ultimately played a part in him coming. Thing we can guarantee, it there’s any chance of him coming, we’re gonna have to pay. I’d love it to happen but it’s so important we don’t allow sentiment and his season with us to sabotage our overall transfer strategy for next season. I like Loftus-Cheek a lot, just like I like Sakho - but if our scouting team has got any competence about them, they’ll be able to source alternatives if it looks like we’d have dedicate the majority of our budget towards signing him. Imperative we don’t have a repeat of last summer, and sacrifice the sake of what’s best for the overall squad for one player just because we all quite like him. We have no choice but to be more forward thinking now, our seasons fighting fires are at an end. Edited by Mstrobez (28 Apr 2018 7.23pm)

I think Roy was quoted last week as interested so we’ll def put in a cheeky bid before he potentially departs for the World Cup. Def not after as that may kill our chances forever.

I think that this is of high importance If we are to press on in establishing ourselves as a force in the top division. Wether or not we take RLC or another player who can free up space / time for Wilf and others. I see the passing range of RLC akin to Hoddle in his heyday or Sigurdson today. He turns like a Matador and controls the ball like Zidane, and yet with this high regard it is true that his school report should read “could do better.” Would love to sign him, but it would be more likely should Chelsea sign a Galatico in his position. If someone could just confirm what that position is...
