That was BP. if he still posts erryr would know I think his folks had a shop that end of Coulsdon.

The BP is in Hooley or where the Murco used to be on Chipstead Valley Road.

I think that tiny site, that became a car wash, was a Jet but I still don't know exactly where you are talking about that was the first to get overdeveloped?

More likely they'll just 'in-fill' with 17 story buildings in Riddlesdown if this goes through.

Perhaps I have been around longer but Coulsdon North station apparoach was a Jet garage and showroom on the main road, and services between Smitham and Coulsdon North.

That's where the 7 storey flats are now, and previously Pinewood. I've never known it called Coulsdon North. It was Smitham and is now called Coulsdon Town.

The block of flats opposite Waitrose is an absolute eyesore, Coulsdon, in the past 15 years has been massively overdeveloped, there has been no infrastructure expansion of any real note ,although Chipstead Valley School has had an extension built. All the new cul de sac along Chipstead Valley Rd contribute to the road becoming worse than the M25 at times. This is all before the 850 homes at the old Cane Hill site are fully occupied , which will cause untold traffic problems along the A23 . Absolutely no joined up thinking from Croydon Council at all ,they seem to be happy to just take the bounty paid by developers to them for allowing new properties .

Chipstead Valley Road has always been a pain in the arse, up until it turns into Outwood Lane, mostly due to s*** parking in the road.

I couldn't care less about that. My concern is the site is in the middle of an extremely busy one-way system. It would not be feasible to build this project with f***ing it up completely for a very long time, there is literally no room to manoeuvre around the proposed site as it has roads on 3 sides of it. There would be no where to locate a crane without closing off some of the roads, and they ware way too busy for that to happen.

And the amount of parking spaces is just pathetic. They're kidding no one by saying the people who move there wouldn't drive. They'd also probably have to move in a certain amount of council free-loaders, who then proceed to send the local crime rate up. But I'm sure that's just a coincidence...

Stereotype much? I think that freeloader comment exposes the actual basis of your opinion, which isn’t great.

Just like the fact that not all 30+ white, middle class are protectionist, house price obsessed and voluntarily ignorant, social housing allowance does not mean increased crime and open season on the disadvantaged.

Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons.

Most are simply interested only in their own property prices being artificially maintained. It's a cultural part of much of UK society - property price obsession. That bubble is about to burst over the next 2-3 years anyway.

Been broken into 3 times since they built some locally, and not once before then. And yes, the people who did it were from there. Not to mention that every time you hear a police car go up the road, it goes to the same place.

If the council want social housing they should build it, rather than piggy-back on someone else's development in a form of blackmail.

It's a s*** development though even if it's all private, I'm against it either way.
