Indeed it is a fish.

It got its name in the days of the British Raj, from being transported on an iconic train called the 'Bombay Daak', 'daak' being the Hindi word for mail. It evolved into 'duck', hence 'Bombay Duck'.

Haggis or Liver.

Both NOT for me.

If liver is cooked properly, ie. not overcooked, its wonderful, with bacon its even better! When overcooked its like the sole of a shoe!!
Haggis is just a scottish sausage isnt it, lovely grub!!

M.E , my mum was capable of burning Mash
(told us it was chocolate mash)
The Christmas turkey was not deemed cooked unless it was somewahat crunchy.
As for cooking liver like a nice bit of fillet , steak was cooked in the oven for a very very long time.
on the upside I did get chips for breakfast , or a monster pile of mash on fried bread
(converted to cadburys Smash as it was safer)

My mother used to cook sausages that were burnt black on 2 strips along the sausage and grey on the other 2 where she hadn't bothered to move them more than once. Put me off them and properly cooked ones anywhere were a real treat. The rare occasion I cook sausages they go in the oven at under 200 with a bit of oil. Perfect and no effort required.

Probably deserves a new thread.

or wrapped in silver foil helps!

I think the only nosh that was done ok in 60s-70s was stews(with dumplings etc) plus proper home cut chips done in lard.
everything else was burnt to f***

At our house, the joke was that you knew when the potatoes were cooked when smoke started appearing round the kitchen door.
One day mum had a microwave delivered just prior to Christmas...cooked the turkey then reheated the slices in the microwave for ...30 minutes!! Ever had black crunchy turkey flavoured charcoal???

Suet.
I like it used for a bacon roly-poly or meat puddings steamed.

needs to be stewed so go all sticky, bunged onto well buttered toast and some grated cheddar on top.

terrible if all thin and runny though.
