Were you around Caterham in the 70s and 80s Rudi? There was a TV shop next to a jewellers called Telecare in the main road. That was my Unc's a massive Palace fan home and away. No I wasn't. I knew people in caterham and I remember fewer cars, the pub where the entrance to the shopping precinct now is that runs up to chavvy morrisons that became one of few pizza huts with the salad bar so quite a novelty then. There was the Commonwealth pub that was quite popular. Also remember the Sunflower burger shop on the hill where the kebab shop is opposite The Royal Oak. Reason I remember it is because of their thousand island sauce on chips or in burgers and a ring of pineapple that didn't give me food poisoning like a Hawaiian pizzas did. This was years before TGIs or special sauce or burger sauce. Caterham, the fast food pioneers. For more Caterham info, the high street appears to be doing okay and I remember reading there's to be a big development in the valley. I doubt I'll be in Caterham for too long but it's good enough to not have to drive in the day to the Purley or Purley way car parks or Croydon unless it gets replaced. Might try boxpark to see if there are any silly curly beards to count but id probably have to do near Shoreditch which I did a lot of before everyone followed the idea a stupid looking beard looked cool. And the ones that look like a bag of cut pubes. Edited by Rudi Hedman (18 Nov 2017 9.34am)

I met Tina Charles in a pub in Caterham once. I told her she wasn't her. She got quite stroppy. Saw her the following evening on Juke Box Jury. Never did see her again to apologise. If anyone in Caterham sees her, can they apologise for me please? Thanks.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |
