You, hedgehog and Stirling can take 1,000 each. When people try to place guilt on my plate or the country's I reject the premise. Most of the people putting forward the criticism have no sense of nationalism themselves so on topics like these it's just like we talk different languages. As for refugees, this country has a proud history on refugees, that is a different discussion. I would only take refugees from groups with a history of secularism. I would have exceptions atheists or say Islamic gays.....but how you could know these things I wouldn't know. Edited by Stirlingsays (03 Nov 2017 6.38pm)

This discussion is astounding in its levels of dross, as well as being mostly based on hearsay and erroneous opinion put forward as fact. What it is successful at however, is exposing a horribly rich palace vein of self-protectionism, xenophobia, ignorance and bitterness.
Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons. |

Good. This country is overcrowded enough already. As I have said before. This world's future will see an endless and ever increasing flow of refugees. We cannot and should not save them all. We have to have a sensible policy going forward and one that considers the future of British citizens first. That is the duty of our government. Decisions have to be made with heads and not hearts that is what we pay politicians for. this world's present flow of refugees to Europe has a lot to do with our Government's flow of bombs that have turned the middle east and Africa in wars zones. The thing about democracy is that we have a choice about what our government does and so when our government / successive governments screw up, we should be prepared to take responsibility for what our government does You cannot live without a heart anymore than you can live without a head. But we should make decisions with the brain and not the skull. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (03 Nov 2017 12.26pm)

Edited by Stirlingsays (03 Nov 2017 6.38pm) If you had the presence of mind to go on the comedy circuit and use your comments as satire you could make an absolute fortune. The pub landlord has already been done but you could easily assume the character of a guy with a keyboard and an irrepressible enthusiasm for whacking his opinions into cyber space even though he doesn't know what he is talking about. Let me know when you do your first gig, it will be side splitting. Us liberals will love you. The right wingers will too but only in the misunderstood way that they love Alf Garnet and the Pub Landlord.

Remember when it was promised the UK would take in 3000 refugee children. Well we've only taken in 300 so far. Campaigners have lost a court battle to force the Government to take the number of child refugees it promised to under the Dubs Amendment. This was something I was working on when I was in Westminster and quite frankly it's disgusting. This is actually quite old news because the vote which the Tories won by about 20 votes (including the DUP, but not all Tories because some voted against it because they are not all totally heartless arse holes) to stop with the dubs amendment happened a few months before the GE. Lord Dubs was a Jewish child refugee himself and fought hard along with the lords to get this amendment passed. The Govt waited until the first moment they could get away with scrapping it and did it. You have to be some kind of f*cked up person to have an issue with taking 3000 unaccompanied children refugees in to a country with the resources we have.

Nice to see the edict being followed. OK it was expected. What edict? You can't start with an inaccurate statement and expect to not get pulled up on it. If that's what you think, say it, rather than stating there was a "promise" by someone to do it.

Fair play to them Can't remember where I read this, I may even have been told . I'm not going trawling. Makes one feel all warm, fuzzy and proudly patriotic when you see how Great Britain can be.

Your post was like reading the rejected notes of a failed Stewart Lee wannabe....so actually it was almost ok. I was waiting for the funny bit. Perhaps you should in fact try the stand up stage. You could get up there and crack a few lines dressed as a wet lettuce seeing as you are already so obviously a vegetable. Edited by Stirlingsays (03 Nov 2017 8.42pm)
