Good for RLC however I agree with the points made on how this looks for Andros overlooked again even when so many others have dropped out.

Unlikely as it was before, it would now make it nigh on impossible to sign him permanently. I'd disagree with that. It might make him realise that by playing for a club like us, the regular football means he's noticed by the England gaffer, so long as we manage to stay in the PL.

I think everyone agrees that there is big club bias when England pick teams. For the case of Townsend, he should be more annoyed that Lingard get picked over him. Is Burnley a big club then as they had two players in the England squad last year of which one has been sold to Everton in the summer and the other is injured but they now have Jack Cork in the squad too

I don't think Southgate trust Shelvey's temperament. He's always prone to an outburst or a red card or getting involved in some kind of aggro. You'd also have to question if he's the type you'd want in and around the camp for four weeks particularly if he's not playing and getting bored... Originally posted by Willo
I'm surprised Shelvey never got a call-up. England are not good at retaining possession and Shelvey is one who looks after the ball and sprays passes about - his distribution is excellent.

Jack Cork has been picked because the squad is at a bare minimum due to injuries and there is a serious lack of English centre midfielders at top clubs. Arguably, you can say Cork deserves it for this seasons performances. For Burnley, Tarkowski and Mee have been better than Keane this season, where is there call up? There are always exceptions to the bias, but there is no doubt that it is there. I remember Callum Chambers being sold to Arsenal and then straight away starting ahead of Clyne for England, despite him being behind Clyne in the pecking order at Southampton.

Definitely some big club bias. Loftus Cheek has certainly shown fantastic potential BUT he was lost for huge periods of our game against spurs.

Huge potential and a great player when played in his correct position through the middle. Looking the best player on the park by some margin against Huddersfield in the opening game, just a shame about the rest of our team that day! Looks lost out on the right recently though. Think when Benteke is back we will see him in the middle again with Cabaye and Luka with Wilf and Andros part of the front 3.

L-C has played exceptionally well today. Let's see him at home next week, to see if he can recreate his form shown today. Let's hope he can manage a full 90 too.

Yeah but he didn't actually do anything then either... Look this is the highest level of football you can play at, and i just can't see how he's earned that. Whats it say to Townsend whos clearly been playing better.... Basically it says you're international future is over. RLC I hope he plays well for us and imagine he'll have a great long future in front of him. But picking him for england after he's had a handful of Prem games, and hasn't performed outstanding in any of them. Na just stinks of FA shoehorning big club players in to the team. Just like they've done for the last ten years which is why we never win anything... Don't play the best players play the best NAMES... Is all the FA does. They assume these lads playing for Chelsea are the future and yet they've DONE NOTHING YET.... Complete joke... He didn't do too badly tonight

Still would argue whats he done to earn an england cap. But given the chance he showed everyone why the manager had faith in him. Really pleased for him.
