They call it honest work, because after 12 hours, all your capable of doing is collapsing into sleep. Except of course in calfing or lambing season, when its 24 hour days. The only people who dream about being farmers are people who've never worked on a farm.

We're odd in that we're an apex predator (in terms of how we consume other species) only on the basis of our tools. That's the odd thing about humans, they're actually not evolved for anything in particular, and that oddly makes them very adaptable, by not specialising. I don't see it that way at all. We are the most evolved creature ever. Our brains and dexterity are advantages that clearly trump any other over the 2 million years we have existed and have allowed us greater adaptability to various environments. We dominate not by numbers but by the ability to and control the environment, deliberately or otherwise, like no other species ever.

For my twopeneth, no system is perfect...and I think that's the point we could all argue to the cows come home re positives and negatives (depending on what side of the fence you sit) but the real solution would be to find another way that is not only inclusive, but also rewards effort so those more inclined to put the effort in then gain more out of it; otherwise where's the incentive?

All that can change is the level at which the poorest exist. The distribution of wealth could be a lot fairer. The conditions in which we often work are not conducive to biological ideals but it is a trade off. What would you give up for a slower, easier life for everyone?

On a social democratic platform. Sure, but Marxists all the same.

If it was marxist and made sense it would be ok by me. Other posters here sorry but I am quite happy to consider other systems, ranting on every day about commies and marxists in answer to every subject is ridiculous. I doubt if marx is relevant today personally but that's up to me.
