We then had a revival getting 13 pts from the next 9 games - Can anyone see us getting 13 pts from our next 9 games ? If so it will be just 12 games from 18 games which is relegation form.

Sorry, but you are on the wrong site if you think that is going to happen! I learnt that years ago, some people would be doom and gloom if he were top 3 saying we will never qualify for Europe etc etc This.

3 points from 9 games and just 2 goals scored are grim statistics. On the positive, and objective side, a reasonably convincing argument can be put forward based on our record from similar-ish situations over the last four seasons and Roy Hodgson's average Premier win ration of around 37%. I suppose it boils down to the "we've done it before so we can do it again" hypothesis. Given that we've got our strongest ever starting 11 in the Prem (injuries and form allowing), there is surely cause for cautious optimism. On the negative, and subjective side, our continuing problem of getting points from games where we control play and have a decent share of possession shows no signs of improving. This is particularly hurting us at Selhurst Park where our dismal points tally against teams in the bottom half of the table continues. A procession of managers have not been able to reverse this trend and unless and until we can, we are always going to put ourselves under pressure. I know it's the 'Palace way' to be contrary and inconsistent, but I do worry about just how feasible it is in the long term to keep beating top six teams to compensate for home defeats against bottom six teams. I guess this is the "you can't keep on flirting with relegation because you'll eventually come a cropper" theory. I believe Roy Hodgson is the right manager for us in these circumstances. I think we have a better chance of avoiding relegation than our current position and statistics would suggest. However, we have to start picking up points now so I suspect it's likely to be a tough and attritional battle against West Ham on Saturday - even more so since Bilic seems to have been given two matches to save his job.

My worry is the points we have lost against (possible)relegation candidates. Huddersfield, Swansea, Newcastle, Burnley, Southampton. West Ham are in that mix and in trouble. Losing to them would mean even they are 8 points ahead of us. I know we all talk about critical games and none of them are season makers or breakers at this early stage, but I do think this Saturday is key. I don't even want to think about losing.
Now here's Wright, his first chance to see what he can do, and he's through, it's Wright, ohhhh what an impact by the substitute. And it's Ian Wright who's sent the Palace fans into ecstasy! |

I think we'll pick up something against West Ham. Definitely think we will get something against Brighton, our squad has a fair few players that we're with us when we last played them so they will know and let the rest of the squad know how important this game is (or at least I hope) and hopefully they will remember poo-gate and use that to fire them up

WE need fifteen or so points by Christmas and we would have as good a chance as most of the bottom third of the table. Too early to be defeatist. Originally posted by TheArmaniCode
That's it for me. 3 points from nine games ANOTHER game without scoring and 4 points adrift of 19th at the end of October is nothing short of pathetic. Not to mention, November is probably the most crucial part of the season with so many winnable games, and to be without a striker through all of it (and probably December as well knowing the state of our medical staff) will end up costing us big time. Call me a pessimist all you want, but I really can't see any way out of this. Looks like our time is finally up.

We are not going down and so confident am I that I will dive naked into Thornton Heath pond and proceed to do 10 lengths backstroke should I be proven wrong. This beats anything Paddy Power can offer!
