What thread would that be?

The recent one....you know, where we actually discussed whether words should be considered violence. About Antifa and the Charlottesville protest.

But not to inappropriately use their position to promote it.

Sport and politics is a no no. It is a misuse of position.

I don't give a s*** what some footballer thinks and neither should you.

Yes, I remember reading your critical missives to The Times when Curcic walked around the pitch with his placard.

Or maybe I am getting mixed up with another fan? Perhaps you were the one that didn't really give a sh1t?

That is not a protest and is non-political. Even FIFA are having second thoughts about it.

Finally, my correct place in the world is being recognised.

You still bringing on the oranges for the half time ladies match?

He was wrong. There is no place in sport for politics.

Self interest.

Not much in life doesn't have a degree of self interest to it, but we still live in a society where it benefits people to get along. Someone going down on one knee isn't something that's particularly new and has a certain dignity and purpose to it if that's a persons heart felt view.

Telling people should be glad not to be shot in the head for doing so is on another level, and a president calling a bunch of black guys who aren't going to damage his populist appeal 'sons of bitches' who should be fired is the actions of a manchild. Of course not a word on here about any of the latter because in solely attacking the players and leaving trump and the 'shot in the head' crowd alone it's a cowardly and convenient way of expressing a preference without directly stating it.

Much like how pardoning the Sheriff aimed to divide along racial lines, this latest effort in Alabama of all places, is designed to play well with Trump's base. There was no pressing need for him to highlight this out of nowhere or call people sons of bitches who should be fired for holding a particularly view. I would say that it's a new low for a president to behave this way, but at this point it's probably not.

Much in the same way there was no need for Trump’s Evangelical Adviser on say live on Fox News that NFL Players are 'Lucky They Are Not Shot in the Head' as they would be in North Korea. These are ridiculous inflammatory attempts to divide and damage.

Going down on one knee has a lot more dignity to it in terms of expressing yourself than either of these two individial's behaviour, though of course some are tone death to that.

Do you think Benteke is expressing some sort of racism protest when he stands in a dignified manner for long periods in the penalty area without moving? Would explain a lot.

You must have nearly burst with anti-American rage when the US and others boycotted the 1980 Olympics in the Soviet Union. Or not.

I said nothing of the sort I'm afraid. I don't and never have thought that there should be any restrictions on speech. I defended the right to protest. You are likely confused it with that. Not to worry, we all make mistakes.

Symbolic invisible chains. Not moving until King Leopold's descendants apologise.
