To be fair to Steve he did try to add to our strike force, it just never happened, as can happen with transfers which can be very convoluted and protracted and heartbreaking. It wasn't for the want of trying and it appears that he is getting very peeved off with supporters who criticise without being in receipt of all the facts.

Spoken like a true disciple

The club had two months in which to line up and buy a striker but either left it until the last minute as with Oumar Niasse or tried to pay on extended hire purchase terms like that Turkish chappie.

Fcuk off with the Pulis sympathy. Now things are tough people are deliberately re-writing history. Pulis fcuked us over and this has been proven in a court of law.

There is no doubt about it, this summer has been a mess. Poor recruitment in manager and players but I refuse to fall into the trap of saying Parish is out of his depth. We find ourselves in the premier league for our fifth season on the trot, that is amazing considering the journey we've been on.

Tough times requires hearts of oak. Some of you lot have hearts of jelly. Look at Everton today. Spent bucket loads yet they're only four points better off. We can turn this round.

Absolutely spot on! We've got a right load of pussies following us these days it seems. Pussies that turn on one of their own at the drop of a hat after they've given them absolutely everything that they could ever ask for.

Sorry but didn't answer one question head on and deflected everything (John Salako's comments prime example). To many fundamental errors and short sited mistakes. The whole striker situation was a farce. Spending 26 million on a defender when that money could could have been spent else where is laughable especially a striker. Ironic he mentioned how they spent to long on the appointment of FDB missing out on other targets. Just like most of our transfer dealings. After listening to Steve sounds like a nice bloke speaks well but in relation to running the club going forward It feels like the begging of the end of this particular chapter in palaces history.

He chose to prat about with that transfer. We could have got the deal done. They wanted the fee up front we wanted to pay in 3 instalments. What's the problem?

Then look at the Everton lad, who I don't like. That broke down over his agent's fee of about 100k.

Parish is as tight as they come and it leaves us struggling to get over the line.

We spent near to £40 Mill in the January 'Window' so there were constraints regarding additions in pre-season.In the end we spent around £70 Mill in 2017 which of course is a significant sum.

I'll give you an analogy.

Imagine you are climbing a steep hill. You are doing well at about the half way mark. You can see the top but know it will be impossible to reach.

You stagger on, lose your footing a few times and end up rolling all the way to the bottom of the hill.

Do you:

1) Pick yourself up, curse a number of times and get angry that all your progress has been thrown away. Lament on how stupid you've been and so on?

or

2) Pick yourself up and say "Ah well, never mind, I started here anyway, at least I can try again!" While looking up at the steep hill in front of you?

Saying Parish is the man and we have to trust him is like saying we should trust and accept the decision a Prime Minister makes. We don't, we protest them.

At least we get to vote on the PM, maybe we should get to vote on the club president like they do in Spain?

You are right Willo, transfers CAN take time but not all clubs suffer from this. I have no knowledge as to what is involved so cannot be critical. Perhaps a little bit more information/facts being relayed to fans may appease some of the fury, I for one, would appreciate it and may lead me to understand the situation a little better.

We are certainly not unique in terms of not being able to get targets "Over the line". Happens regularly at different stages of the process.

Can you name one other Premiership club that only has one recognised striker in their squad

I believe I have mentioned before on HOL that only really having Benteke up front is certainly not ideal at all but Steve did try to add to the firepower. Not a good situation to be in at all.

If you look at Burnley, they can call upon Wood,Vokes,Walters, Barnes and Wells.Bournemouth have Wilson, Afobe,Defoe,King.Mousset.WBA have Rondon,Rodriguez,Robson-Kanu.Huddersfield have Mounie,Depoitre,Kachunga,Quaner,Sabiri.
We only have Benteke - NOT good at all.

That should have been our top priority from the start of the window, but the majority of our effort seemed to go into arguing with Liverpool and finally having to do a deal for Sakho that would have most likely been accepted if we'd offered it earlier.

A last resort should have been to fill the remaining place in the 25 with a free agent (and there were a couple of decent looking ones out there), but we haven't even done that and, if we do now, by the time he's fit, it'll be the next window. We're in the same position with strikers as we were with LBs and we all know what happened there.

Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing!

I totally understand what you are saying.
It has left us in a very vulnerable position indeed.Heaven help us if Benteke gets injured in the next few weeks.
