Media just love to kick the $hit out of anything/ anyone when they are down. I fear there's plenty more to come because we are going to be struggling for some time yet.

Yeah our league is highly competitive but still made up largely of mercenaries here for the money. Then mugs like us go and spend well over the odds weekly to watch them, while we and the media treat them like they're gods It's never going to go back to how it was but when you compare our league to Germany, I would take the German model any day of the week. Very accurate post.

If we go down this season then we've absolutely f*** all to show for the last 5 years. I don't need to go support another club. I would be happy to go back down to the championship. If that is the case, why do you keep moaning about everything Palace.

We've been the media's sweetheart for the last four years, now the knives are out for us. Salako's showing himself to be a bitter and spiteful media bitch. On that note though Parish should step back from social media, stop having spats with kids on Twitter and sort this sh*t out. We're looking at going eight games, no points and no goals. Relegation is a real possibility this season and the way we're breaking unwanted records we could go down with less points than Derby did. Edited by Southampton_Eagle (17 Sep 2017 2.03pm)

Totally correct about the manager issue. 2 strong managers have jumped ship at the end of the season, others have got the boot. We just don't seem to be a club that can keep hold of managers. Some clubs deliberately swap them but ours I feel like above, needs stability. Can't see Hodgson being here for more than 1-2 seasons whatever happens and we're be looking for another manager. We don't need a visionary, just a youngish, experienced top level coach who can work within the framework of the club to achieve something long term.

I don't think anyone expects Roy to stay for more than a season or two irrespective of league status. Maybe that's the reason Steven Reid was brought in? Possibly to serve an apprenticeship so to speak.

Edited by Southampton_Eagle (17 Sep 2017 2.03pm) Agree, this isn't the correct course of action at the moment. Also it is highly likely that we will have our worse points figure after 10 games since we returned to the PL. Looks like "the clock has been turned back" to Ollie's days. Let's hope that the springs haven't fallen out permanently. Not sure if Hodgson, unlike Pulis is the man to save us now but unfortunately we have backed ourselves into a corner in relation to the manager's spot. We shall have to wait and see. COYP !!

Palace always struggle in the top flight and this period is no different. In 1970 they stayed up with the lowest points total ever. The following year they did better. In the next year the completely changed the team and stayed up. They were finally relegated when 'on paper' they had a much better Coach and squad. During the next longest spell under Coppell, we just about stayed up in 1990. We then finished 3rd in the second season. In this present period, the pattern of constant struggle every year has continued and is likely to continue for the foreseeable future. Like everyone who posts on here, finally I would like to be confident that the club is going in the right direction both on and off the pitch. Unfortunately, I am not feeling this at the moment. Lets hope that now the club can pull it together, but it looks as though our usual companions'frustration' and 'disappointment' are going to be with us for a while yet.
