DeBoer was clueless! He didn't have a Scooby! Pre season: tried playing possession football which worked fine until the other team pressed high then we lost possession, Liverpool showed this. In Europe its well known that the attacking team will be allowed possession without being pressed too much, this showed against Schalke. That doesn't happen in the Premier and we all know that.. Season: Playing 2nd rate full backs as wing backs who couldn't take on a player if their life depended on it. Playing 5 defenders and 2 CDM against a newly promoted team and in turn created very little on the pitch... Against Swansea he went so defensive that the 2 wingers up front one of which was McArthur lol! had to drop deeper due to the wing backs naturally falling back to their comfortable positions that it left Benteke completely isolated the whole match. Against Burnley we were close to getting a goal and he was sat on the bench with his arms folded feeling sorry for himself when he should of been on the touchline encouraging the team on.. FDB didn't know what he was trying to do and it showed. he was completely out of his depth, and he ran out of ideas 3 matches into the season, then decided to changed the formation probably due to Sammy Lee. So Well done board for identifying this early and acting on it. Edited by barrie2301 (12 Sep 2017 6.34pm) Do you not actually wonder with everything you said above, How and why the hell Parish appointed him in the first place. I assume that Parish between his Karaoke and holiday period must of spent at least some time thinking who to appoint and for what reasons, I mean it took him was it a short list of 37 candidates and 2 months or so to appoint a Manager, And less than that to sack him. to be honest even that makes me wonder what's going on at our club, Sadly I do make the majority of pundits right in as much as Parish IMO is becoming as a chairman a bit of a joke figure, What with his comments a couple of weeks ago that the Dutch revolution continues and his rant on Sunday about sticking together lol. I bet he regrets that now. Unfortunately i do think he has somewhat lost the plot and is struggling at this level of football Management, I dread to think of the compensation he has paid out over the past few years solely on his bad appointments. He is a great guy, But is in need of help from someone within Football with the experienced to help and not just another ex Palace face like DF Having said that I will be at Selhurst as we all will hoping for a change of fortunes Edited by Medway Eagle (13 Sep 2017 3.23pm) Edited by Medway Eagle (13 Sep 2017 3.26pm)

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I can remember a heavy percentage on social media saying along the lines of "please God, not Dyche". Maybe one of SP's major faults is that perhaps he listens to the fans to much. I said not Frank straight off, so did Jordan. In Jordan's words he went off on a tangent and that is in short what he did. He should listen to a dof, but he won't. He'll prefer Freedman agreeing with him.

The search was too long but don't you think Frank wanted the Southampton job? He lied to the board on "gradual" etc so would you believe him or his agent that he wasn't interested in Ston? You're not Roy. Roy has Prem experience so will know how difficult this can be. He's evensaid we may not actually pull clear until Christmas. What was Frank supposed to do? Not go against what was agreed. The transfers were a shambles but did you hear Fran say anything in the press about any of it? We've heard his lack of input and no press comments. His remit was a long term plan, not a short one. That's the whole point. He rushed into it, changing as muh as possible to get it done asap, putting us at risk. If it doesn't work, he walks away. If he didn't treat Huddersfield the way he did and Swansea 1st half the way he did, oh and bringing in and needing Kelly after isolating himhe may have had the points that are now so critical with the injuries you mention. Who's fault? Comparable to Pardew. When it's hard, make it harder. No "results over style" at all. More anadvertisement for himself. When luck isn't on your side you do what you can to grab some back and lower your risk. He didn't, or wouldn't. He didn't respect the prem, cpfc, opponents, employers he spoke to in interview and it sounds like wasn't getting on with many people from top to bottom. People like that in workplaces don't last very long. It sounds like he was acting as Van Gaal before he'd achived any more than winning the Dutch title which Schteve Mclaren managed to win. He ended up at the wrong club and wasn't prepared to change his approach and that isn't a strength whatsoever.
Good post.

I think SP realised he'd forgotten his plan to appoint England's former permanent managers in reverse order. Mark my words, Fabio will be next, then Stevie McClaren.
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

Parish made a predictable mistake hiring De Boer.

If Benteke gets injured any time soon the thread titles will be very different to this one.

33 days versus 2. He is a bit more decisive about firing managers now than with Pardew too, eh. Parish has made a massive mistake, and its pretty disappointing to see him do that after all these years of learning the ropes. He royally cocked up the transfer window, and royally cocked up the 33 day long recruitment of a new manager. Parish looks like an absolute schoolboy right now. But he will keep on being Parish, as when you are a football chairman, you dont have to be accountable for screwing things up and making awful decisions when you should know better. Somehow this is De Boer's fault. Dont get me wrong, he hasnt helped himself with team selections, but why is Pulis doing another Stoke at West Brom but couldnt do it at Palace. Why did Allardyce not only quit the club but retire from the game, when at Palace. Why did we hire a manager so wrong, so totally and completely wrong, that he needed to be fired after 4 league games (or apparently 3). Why do we only have 1 fit striker. Why did we not sign a goalie, even after releasing than young keeper to supposedly make room for a free agent GK signing, when we have had issues with the goalie for over 12 months. Why couldnt we sell a single player of note in the transfer window. Why the comedy of errors, constantly, at Palace. Its because of Parish screwing things up all the time, he is not cut out to be a chairman of a PL club, simple as that. I hope one day he will realize that and move on. Edited by Maine Eagle (13 Sep 2017 4.40am) For Gods sake. i wish you would move on
