There's definitely a change in mood, certainly as far as the ex pro's amongst the pundits are concerned (Jamie c***knapp aside) regarding FdB's treatment in the press...it's encouraging; also a number are questioning SP's thought process if he did end up pushing FdB out the door so soon.

For me our biggest problem now lays with the squad providing Frank sticks with the 433, we've got sako, Lee, mutch who all offer nothing, puncheon is also just as useless and ineffective, the quicker we get these players off the books and replaced the better, we also have our second striker out on a long term injury. Cant blame Frank for the squad but we will need to be so lucky with injuries this season, then we still need to replace ward and hennessy. Zaha, Townsend, benteke and loftus cheek are a pretty decent front 4 but who do we have who can come on, replace them and make a difference, no one. His got his work cut out and will take a couple of transfer windows to get where we need to be and the fact we've got to get players off our books before bringing players in makes it even harder. mind you I'm sure that's what freedmans been employed to do, not really sure What qualifies him for the job tho. Providing he picks our strongest 11 when available and plays to our strength the I'm happy to stick with him , if he keeps dropping milo for puncheon, playing cheek out wide and just upsetting the whole balance of the tesm so puncheon can start then he will be sacked before Christmas anyway because there's no way we will be where we should be.

Clearly FDB hasn't lost the dressing room and the players seem to have fitness and desire. The transfer window is closed so we have our squad. At Burnley the team were set up in a way that suited it. Bottom line, there is no point changing Manager as it stands, unless the team decide they don't want to play for him. Who would we get that is better anyway....we struggled to get anyone decent in the summer. The problem seems to be confidence, and with a goal, and Selhurst backing the team, that will change. With confidence and our best team and a reasonable bench we can beat anyone in this division on our day. Come on Palace!

I doubt that FdB was asked to "rip everything up and basically start again with the team's tactics", and that's exactly where he went wrong and why we're pointless and goalless after four games. SP was looking for a different style of play, but he was doubtless expecting the "evolution not revolution" that de Boer had promised. Plus every truly successful manager, whatever their own personal philosophy about style and tactics, will play to the strengths of the squad they have, making changes and additions as experience, circumstances and funds allow. Hopefully de Boer is learning that lesson, but I'm not yet entirely convinced that he is.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

Surely SP hasn't pulled the trigger after yesterdays improved performance! He will be a laughing stock - and so will CPFC !

Lets hope his sacking does not mean we pay him mega bucks and that there was a clause on his performance in his contract.
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |
