I don't think it's either of their faults From what we've been told Parish was the advocate of FdB's appointment and the style of football. Do you not remember last season when Pardew said we were trying a more expansive style of football after "talks with the chairman about what direction to take". That, in my opinion, is why it took so long to sack him because Parish felt he led Pardew down that road to changing the playing style.

I totally accept what you say. My point was more that they were in League 1 and in administration with a 10 point deduction when we were in the Championship. Plus they had Pardew as manager. Without going off to look, did they buy Clyne when they went into the Premier League or before? I recall it was 2012 so I guess it was just after they got promoted. He was a Nigel Adkins signing.

Mark Langdon, football chief journo for the Racing Post and frequently on Talksport giving the international overview, wrote in yesterday's post blaming the board - you can't pull the plug on a long term project after 270 minutes he was saying, and the real blame for the situation is at board not managerial level. A lot of is down to luck though, nobody could foresee Big Sam going, Parrish has got the right idea about relating security/stability in the prem with getting our possession stats nearer 40% than 30%, may have chosen the wrong man to implement the vision - certainly there have been glaring errors with tactics and personnel whose failures were easy to predict and they then did fail. I think De Boer should have seen 3-4-3 had to be introduced slowly not as a six week shock at all playing levels, he learnt the wrong lessons from his time at Inter and what he has to do is realise he has to learn very fast how to win games in the prem, 3-4-3 can wait, and not for too long, I'd say we just need to improve and the 'next level', a phrase which usually introduces a level down, will look after itself. Maybe, maybe not. Had Parish and Sam had a better relationship maybe Sam would have told Parish earlier? I'm not implying their relationship wasn't good but Sam has said he made his decision before the Hull game so why did he wait 8+ days to tell Parish? That's a question that needs answering.

It's highly probably that Parish knew before the Hull game and started putting feelers out for a replacement well before the official announcement was made to the media. That's how business works. Not even sure how he could, considering a large part of it is his business. Nonsense from HOL'ers again. He can sell to someone who doesn't f*** around with transfers and allows the team to be prepared for the start of a season.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Is Steve parish greatness unravelling ?' by Guntrisoft 7 years ago keep the club a float by saving it from extinction but fast forward until present day. He took him 6 weeks to appoint a manager that didn't suit our style of our players. Didn't back him in the transfer market with no attacking options. Whether you rated Campbell or remy last season in terms of contribution. The fact that they haven't even been replaced shows naivety. Mandanda sold over 8 weeks ago, not a single replacement found. If your FDB looking at the bench 1-0 down who do you turn to? Why name the likes of lapado and mutch and Kai Kai to a small degree if you don't think they're adequate. Even the year we had Gayle as a sub it's better than what we had to offer this season. The performance was better today, but for me parish is the issue. Anyone agree? This post has been merged from a topic called 'Is Steve parish greatness unravelling ?' by Guntrisoft We were awful for most of last season. Surely he must have seen this, so why so long to name a replacement for Sam and why haven't we brought in adequate replacements for those who left?

Agreed, every man and his dog knew we needed at least one striker signed last window, but Parish bulked at paying minimal fee to that Everton's striker's agent and would not pay the fee for the Turkish striker over6 months.

I don't think that we've had managers exactly beating our door down even since the position became available when Holloway left. Think most Palace fans think that it's a lot easier to find the right type of manager than it is, then for that manager to even consider joining us.

Maybe. See Tim Cahill. Although Niasse is hardly a world beater and sometimes throwing good money after bad ain't the right option.
