Speroni is now just some old bloke around whom the smell of Ralgex hangs heavy (and before you explode with righteous indignation do check out my favourite player). Riedewald's main contribution is doing a great impersonation of a startled rabbit (one that appears to be nailed to the ground when it comes to jumping for the ball) and Zaha will NOT be back on Sunday (how many times do people need to be told?). Apologies for the micturition over your French fries, but it was a very poor piece of homework and needs to be redone.

I'd play one of the other CBS and put Fosu Mensah at RB but I like the rest of the setup

How was it a poor piece of homework when I said the line up was very unlikely? It was a poor piece of marking when you didn't read the initial "The team I'd like to see"

Riedewald was one of the most highly sought out Centre Backs in europe not too long ago but you've seemed to of passed judgement on him after one premier league game. If one game was truly indicative of how good a player is/can be, Tomkins would've been sold. He should be afforded time and should be supported, although I appreciate that is not a concept we at Palace or in England are particularly fond of.

For me personally, Speroni would be a better option after a few games in goal regardless of his age. Taking sentiment out of it he was a fantastic goalkeeper even in the premier league for us and personally I cannot see how his age would make him worse than Hennessey, he's a goalkeeper and I'm sure his arms still work OK (better than Hennesseys at least).

RE Wilf, I didn't know he wouldn't be fit and that brings us back to the worrying lack of squad Depth. I suppose I'd have Puncheon fill in there but it's a grim prospect. Maybe a chance to have a look at Nya Kirby? Looks an exciting talent and not sure how much worse it could be.

Just to make it clear again, I don't for one second believe that will be the team. Just the team I'd personally like to see.

It's the basis for a decent selection for me.

I have a few things I'd change. If PVA does start it's a last chance in a back 4 before Schlupp takes his place. Swansea he was shyte and I reckon Frank wasn't happy.

Maybe back 4 of:

Ward. Mensah. Dann. PVA.

Ideally I'd like Mensah at RB but how confident, fit etc is Riedewald to come back in? Playing away might help, or a canny manager (who I thought was more suitable) might instruct his players to give him some barges on one foot or in the air he cannot cope with.

If Wilf isn't available then who do you play? If it were me I'd drop punch and play Chungy. As its Frank I won't be surprised to see cheek play wide with punch spinning in circles.

If you have Chungy in a team with PVA, Cabaye and cheek around him then there is a method to the selection. The issue needing sorting on the training ground would be PVA and Chungy not being caught on any counter attacks by Burnley. That's where Luka and 1 of the other 2 midfielders come in handy rather than 6-7 in front of the ball.

Come on Frank, play smart and we can get something.

Agreed, and whether or not Jairo is ready to step in for such an important game is definitely debateable. I'm sure a well organised back 4 can be a number of options at this time, it's actually quite refreshing to have so much depth in that area.

My biggest concern with Chungy is that he's championship level and is pretty much ineffective in the majority of games he plays. This was an area I did try and raise during the transfer window, but of course with Sakho, 1 striker and Hennessey still making the cut it was mostly ignored as a non priority.

I know the whole young players may be a little naive, but I do genuinely like the look of Nya Kirby and perhaps it's easier to risk an attacking player who will be unpredictable, raw, fearless etc. than it would be for say a defensive player?

Bit harsh to drop Hennessy after two clean sheets for Wales should have got his confidence up.

TFM is not a centre back. Mourinho says he is Valencia's long-term replacement as an attacking right-back. He plays for Holland as a right back. Only FdB seems to under the impression centre back is his best position.

I'd play.

Having Sakho back will give the whole team a lift even if he's not playing. I expect us to win

so I see that Kelly is, understandably perhaps, not making the cut for most people.

I think he should get one, maybe two, more cracks of the whip unless Tomkins can return or better still Sakho.

kelly got hardly any time pre season and, like many others, has looked a fish out of water in the 343. the howler v Swansea arguably was the most blatant direct failing of the 343. he had no pass and foolishly tried to dribble out.

I have always seen something in him as a central defender. I think he's quite composed, determined and a fair passer and tackler. He just needs time to bring it all together and to learn to concentrate over 90 minutes (which I think he can).

With him alongside Dann, and TFM at right back adding some pace, I think Kelly could come good. actually for the same reason perhaps it would be interesting to try Schlupp at left back.

The absolute must for me on Sunday is details. we need a system where the players feel comfortable and, alongside that comfort, they need to get every little detail right: solid defending and positioning for EVERY ball into our box; quick and effective disruption as soon as we lose the ball if we are pushing forward with it.

I am optimistic for this game. I think JMac and Cabaye would add quality and nous to midfield. I believe McArthur at his best -- and i think he's close -- is better than RLC.

I feel we owe Burnley too and their expectations will be very high...to the point where they struggle with them.

as long as FDB is sensible and pragmatic, and we don't get overrun at the start, I take us to win...and actually win well.
