In my mind yes the £40m does count but as we are in new season with new income streams and budgets not hugely important. With a new manager in and SP buying into this new style of play a (current) net spend of £8m is not enough to change a complete style of play. Our team has for years been build around 4 at the back and counter attacking style. To change this is a real massive change and its not only unfamiliar to some of our players but some of our players strengths don't suit this. This means we either get them to learn if capable or purchase. After a current net spend of £8m and SP saying we probably need to sell to buy is a little worrying. Yes there are obvious players we need to get rid of but they won't be the high fee players. Its great saying FdB needs to go he is no good....If we don't back him with players and finances he may well walk. SP can't do this huge change in style and play on the cheap. It seems he picked a manager and style he wanted with a necessary budget we can't afford. I hope we back FdB with the players required and that doesn't have a detrimental effect on the size or quality of the squad as we should be progressing after 5 years. I have a feeling this (another) experiment may end in tears. I hope I'm wrong. Well I would have thought that SP and Frank agreed a budget in there discussions, and so far we have signed 3.

Splashing the cash guarantees nothing. Ask Slaven Bilic ! But....having to play Scott Dann up top yesterday to try to salvage a point said it all to me. We have gone into this season under resourced in certain areas. Forget Wickham, he doesn't look like being match fit until March at this rate. There's no genuine competition for Hennessy - Jules will only play if WH is injured. According to FDB '' there will be no panic signings ''. I guess we will be leaving those until January like we usually do

SP mentioned on 5 live this morning that he was struggling to understand how other teams are complying with Financial Fair Play and whether or not it is being enforced properly. My reckoning is the club needs to lose some of its current salaries in order to be able to comply when recruiting new players and that this is as much an issue as funding the transfers.

This is the problem you get when you have so many managers. SP has backed all his managers, but we are left with players not wanted by the manager on big wages. These guys aren't gonna leave unless they can get the same wage elsewhere and there's no way Sako, Mutch and Chungy will get these wages in the championship.

Why would he regret saying he won't panic buy? The point I was making was that if we lose to Swansea which would be a bit of a debacle he might well resort to "Panic buys" (Or they would be perceived as such) , accordingly he might regret what he had articulated.
