There are some 'Irons in the fire' but whether we get them over the line is an entirely different matter. I happen to believe that if we are just left with our current squad when the 'Window' closes it could well be a very long and challenging season. Hopefully we will beat Swansea this afternoon and an air of negativity amongst some of our supporters will be lifted.A defeat and I fear that not only will HOL be awash with vitriol, there will be real concern amongst our fanbase even though the season is in it's infancy.Pray God the former. If we draw or lose at home to Swansea, irrespective of the reasons, I believe many if not most of our supporters will take this view.

It's become obvious that we are struggling to compete with the big fees being paid and once we get past the first team there is a real lack of depth in the squad especially upfront. To leave everything with days to go is a risky business, and I find it stupid to almost effectively write-off the first 3 games each season. However, there is bugger all we can do about it. The club will be here for us to support next season whatever division we are in.

Let's see how we do against Swansea but I agree that we shouldn't be throwing away points at the beginning of the season and hoping we pick them up later. At least Huddersfield gave us a reality check. If we'd had Man City and then Liverpool as a start and lost we would have been expecting it and be feeling that things would inevitably improve.

Leaves us facing relegation without a Christmas firefighter to turn things around like before. Maybe a foreign loan or two, but loan signings are the cheap option and the cheap option isn't usually the best. I wonder what de Boer was told about the pot of money available to him? I don't remember that issue being discussed at his opening press conference other than he wanted to look at the players we had first. Well, he's looked and we still have no fit second striker of note and no quality goalkeeper and no strength in depth. pure poppycock and balderdash !!! Despite the board repeatedly going on air to confirm they were waiting for the right players during this window, you go and start a divisive thread during mid-August. This indicates to yet another lazy fan starting yet another pointless thread.

It doesn't help the start we've had, who'd want to come to us at the moment, we've got a boss that has blind faith in a philosophy which isn't working at Selhurst. Be great to land Wimmer and an attacking central midfielder to keep Punch on his toes....but FDB might need to leave first...i see fdb staying another 2-3 games and us having a big January window... Perhaps Parish doesn't have the confidence in fdb now to give him the extra dosh?
