Looking at it cynically, we need Zaha to be fouled as much as possible - why? This may be our only source of goals (from the resultant free kicks) - and those from Wilf himself. I cannot see goals from anywhere else. Benteke was hardly seen, Townsend ran a lot but ultimately lost the ball and wasted the one cross he did manage to get over. With the present set up we need to add a Gayle-type player who can run on to the through balls that will now be forthcoming from our new set up. Erm, can we leave the pant-wetting until at LEAST a few games into the season please?

Playing this system we'll have three up top so if Benteke can't run on to passes. Then I guess one of the other TWO will. Current guess is Wilf and maybe LoftusCheek will take up those positions. The wing backs will be doing the job of the wingers which will by default mean we have more players available to score. No idea why people fear Benteke can't score goals in this formation. Crosses will still be coming in and he shouldn't have lost his shooting boots.

Tsk tsk. I would be horrified if he got injured. I am simply nervous that if he doesn't get proper protection it is inevitable; as most seem to be saying along with me (without your unsustainable aggression and anger). UKIP

Remember this comment. If the boys in black don't start giving him proper protection and realising he is not a diver but extremely skilful he is going to get a very, very bad injury. Team after team, player after player, week after week he is targeted with fouls to try and take him out of games with NO consequence. There is going to be a brawl soon because players will take it into their own hands because he gets no protection. Horrid but true. Something needs to be done or football will suffer.

To be fair, if he was an opposition player, wouldn't you want our defenders to 'stop him playing'..... Every team identifies the opposing sides most dangerous player and targets him. Wilf gets fouled more because he takes on more players than anyone else. If he gets past 2, the third one is going to clobber him. Not going to stop that, and the more we, and the manager whinge about it, the worst it will get.... Okk, we can just expect him to be badly injured and say nothing?

Going down easy is not the same as diving & they had enough video to show that a majority of the time fouls were being committed. It was shown, evidentially, that you didn't need that strong a contact to fell someone in full flight so he could be accused of being a bit of lightweight at times but not as much simulation as the media made out. Whatever occurred, the Spanish officials took a much stronger view on fouls committed against him - he still tops the 'most fouled' chart but not by the same huge margin. Was that a video Barca made? Because I have no single bit of doubt that diving in Spanish football is at it worst level it has ever been and I despise the current Barca team for it . It has gotten to the stage I have stopped watching El Classico. Maybe my perception is wrong, but doubt it. Diving, simulation, play acting is a huge part of the Spanish and South American game and I can't stand it. Mind you, we had Robben here who has improved a lot since his Chelsea time but still has his moments so I'm not saying it's mainly a Southern European or Latin thing. Saw Victor Moses doing it against Spurs, or Vardy against Arsenal last season when he got a penalty for tripping himself. How I would like to hand out 10 plus games bans for anything like it. And take all the pundits who tell everyone "there is contact he is entitled to go down" off the telly. Originally posted by Nobbybm

Well the season is only twomgames long and Wilf has already lost 50%. Was this through over-robust taxkling by Huddersfield? Was it team rotattiin tackles by the Terriers? I don't know, but its bloody coincidence it has happened to our best player who may well be the best player in the PPL.
