Actually it's on the telly quite often, but when Guy Gibson calls out his dog's name the word "boy" is awkwardly dubbed over it.

Sexism at it's worst.

Well, there was more street crime and child abuse in Victorian times and gang culture was big before you and I were even born and is today as well especially in places like Glasgow and South London and not forgetting the hooligan firms. So it's not really specific to immigration as such. More socio-economic. As for terrorism that also has come from various groups here in the UK since the 70's to today so again not specific to immigration when looked at as a whole.

Fact is the majority of crimes are committed by the natives and not immigrants. Some areas of crime will be disproportionate amongst ethnic lines but again those crimes aren't perpetrated by one type of immigrant group save for FGM and 'honour' attacks. They are committed by various ones and indigenous ones too.

So, I ask again - what are these number of things that you are offended by that the country has had to endure since modern immigration began? That we wouldn't have had if we hadn't had had the immigration you are thinking about.

Don't make me spank you over this for the umpteenth time. It's getting dull schooling you in rudimentary statistics. It's also not apropos to the thread, though I sympathise you may not have been responsible for the tangent.

As a kid, we used to have holidays in a guest house in Littlehampton.

The landlady had a dog called Digger, and I always thought it was because of its incessant quest for bones.

Now it occurs to me that she might have had a cold all those times.

Some things are about common decency, not being offended on others behalf. This is one of those times. It is simply not acceptable for a white person to use that word. End of.

Pretty much. Its a term that clearly is very offensive and undefendable for public use. I don't think too many black people would take well to being called it either.

Bit like calling someones mum a c@@t.

No, please do. What has Guido been telling you to think this time?

Why don't you answer MY questions? Instead of chucking things at others?

Why can you not back up your s***e?

I know the answer. By the way.

My lovely old mum still says 'coloured' - bless her.

I think that 'coloured' is more appropriate and seems kinder than 'black' but society seems to disagree. Terms are changed intentionally to make it seem as if we've turned a corner. But we havent

If you actually give a s*** about this then you seriously need to find bigger things to worry about.

Stop being afraid of words an they can't hurt you.

As for this woman. She has apologised but there can't be many who would use a phrase like that in a professional capacity nowadays. Someone needs to remind her that we aren't living in the 18th century.

If we were in the 18 th century they wouldn't have known what that meant.

Morning, Matthew.

Is the answer because you haven't actually asked ANY questions on this thread?

You are losing it again. Calm.

I guess that's right about the woodpile reference. The 'N' word is from the Latin for 'black'. It was also used as a general term for anyone not white, not just those of African ancestry. I'm currently reading a very good book on the Indian Mutiny (Christopher Hibbert) the word is constantly used in extracts from letters home, speech quotations etc. (turns out by the way that a 1st cousin 3 times removed of mine fought at the siege of Lucknow!)
