None of Kai Kai, Williams or Boateng are good enough. All it takes is too look at how average they have been on loan to league 1 sides and you can see why they've never got their chance in the PL. You have to be good enough to earn it. I believe that Championship and League One are more physical than the PL. A Palace player loaned to one of those clubs is not available to play for Palace and can be a target for physical challenges - making him look ordinary. I agree with Leecpfc with the qualification that our young players need to be available for cup and league matches.

I'd also play the majority of them in the league as soon as we're safe from relegation. We're never going to win the league, so why give up on winning cups? Very unlikely? We were pretty close 14 months ago.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

I think that FdB will have his hands full for the foreseeable future just getting to grips with the senior squad. As for Palace's Academy I believe its a romantic notion that FdB will be able to devote any time towards this in the near future. Its a long held dream that Palace want to attract and sign better talent to the academy but Nya Kirby seems to be the only recent proof of this. I do hope its an area that Palace can really develop, find the new premises that they need for it grow to a Category 1 Academy and really compete with the established clubs to produce top home grown talent!

It is possible that with the appointment of FDB it could be an attraction for young talent to join given his track record elsewhere. In any event it will take time, which is generally a luxury not afforded to anyone in this day and age.

Have we sacked anyone apart from those that looked to be leading us into relegation?

To me there are those from the development squad who've had their chances and those that haven't. Time to move the former on and give the latter an opportunity to shine. Kirby & Flanaghan could be ready to step up to the plate and make names for themselves, save us millions and/or potentially make us millions

There's a lot of talk that , FDB appointment is great news for the academy products. However are the likes of Kai Kai good enough or is that there not being given an opportunity. While previous managers have joined the club, with survival as their only mission. These players have hardly flourished in the U23 game or when out on loan in the football league. Im all for giving youth a chance but they have to be good enough. Didn't the academy get graded as category B. How can we improve this. Is Gary Issot the problem. What's your thoughts on the academy and why has it been 7 to 8 years. Since Zaha burst onto he scene. Edited by Dan89 (27 Jun 2017 11.26am) Not done well when out on loan? I've seen Joniesta at Ipswich, a boy at Shrewsbury, another with Hartlepool. They are heroes there. They, like Kai May not be good enough for the EPL, that's all

Ladapo was at Shrewsbury and Jake Gray was at Hartlepool who liked him so much we off-loaded him on a free to Luton, who've moved him on to Yeovil. Williams only managed eight appearances for Ipswich last season before suffering the inevitable injury. If you're right, the Tractor Boys have some rather odd "heroes".

He's already mentioned about Luke dreher, hasn't enough muscle to be a premier player yet. Q.Should we loan our academy product abroad, in holland or Germany for a better footballing education?

We came bottom of the U23 table in the lowest division, and we came 3rd in the equivalent U18 division. I understand that the best of the U23 bunch will be loaned out, but I imagine it's the same for other clubs in the division. If we had such great kids, they wouldn't have come bottom. Historical we've produced good teams - won the FA Youth Cup twice and getting to the final another two times. Unfortunately, the fact is, our academy has been neglected for years, which is a massive shame given the catchment and relatively less competition we've got.

Concern that frank said he wants to see what's in his own kitchen, his arrival hasn't suddenly turned our academy product into prem players.
