I hope de Boer doesn't chuck people under buses, he has a bit more quality than that. But I do agree that if anything is going to rip his knitting it'll be Puncheon going round in circles and then losing the ball cheaply. He'll either have to fix that or sell.

Hilarious

My understanding is Pardew didn't actually coach anything, he just let the players get unfit and fat and boied them up come match day.

I hope FdB gets a good preseason with the lads to instill his ideas but also takes it at the right pace to implement changes come match day.

I suspect he's very astute at coaching and will only improve our lads.

That being said the league is tuff and no doubt it won't be plain sailing. But if we can avoid the bottom of the league and the added pressures that brings, I suspect over the course of a few transfer windows he'll mould us a really talented squad.

Not saying it'll be easy but I am excited for the future. I hope he earns the chance to stay for a few years and if he does I'm sure most of us will be satisfied.

Also think we should have comfort in the fact FdB was a defender and as such he won't over look that aspect of our game.

Now imagine either this year or next we could lure Bergkamp on to the coaching staff as well! Mmmmm

I really think if he comes it will work, as I have already said, he has done a lot more in the game than most of our players if not all, so respect will be high to start, he just needs to keep this respect.

I really think we will thrive under Frank, getting more excited everyday, goodness knows what I will be like if we actually get him?

Our last attempt at passing football ended up with us passing until we lost it, usually near our goal (Jedinak). But that was under Pardew.
Frank hopefully will coach what we already have and improve them. We have talented players already and it has been frustrating to watch some previously good players turn bad due to bad management.
We have yet to see if fdb can succeed in passing his philosophy to the squad but if he can lets just enjoy the ride.

Apparently the new manager is about to be 'unveiled'.

If it is De Boer I hope he can revive our ailing youth policy and end the practice of having average players on the bench who never play and cost a fortune.

Allardyce will be a hard act to follow the fans will be on his back quite soon never mind about total football the PL is a cut-throat business.

For all we know Parish may have told Allardyce play more of the youngstars next season and Allardyce said no.

If that's the case then glad his gone.

I hope the total football comes off as for me it's the way football should be played.

Not sure I agree. Unless its a complete disastef from thr start, I think he will be given time by the fans, as it will probably take time to get us playing a different style. Personally I can't wait. It was awful last seadon watching teams like bournemouth run rings round us

- or sooner if we try to play all-out attack from the start - we know it to be suicidal. As for him coaching us in 'total football'
(a) we ain't Ajax, Dutch, part of Cruyff's legacy or anything like it
(b) half the team can't pass intelligently (some not at all) or get into strategic positions, and can't be taught.
This is why pragmatism (Pulis, Allardyce) worked for us - play to the team's strengths (fast clever wingers and strong CF), eliminate the grosser weaknesses (ie learn how to bleedin' defend!)
