Because someone uses terminology and expresses opinions, founded or unfounded, that might offend some people, that does not make them a 'racist'.
I'm not staying awake at night about any of this. The world has far more to worry about.

It alludes to them being racially prejudicial, beyond the statistical norm. As we can only be judged on our social actions and interactions; existentially speaking it makes him a bit racist.

Arguably anyone using terms like Asian or Oriental to groups people together under commonality is racist. That's about half the worlds population. Its as useless as the word white. It doesn't really tell you anything of value (especially as white in Europe would include the equivalent of the US latino).

I don't think being poorly informed or lacking diplomacy makes you a 'racist'.
I think trying to disadvantage or persecute one group purely on the basis of ethnicity makes you as close to a 'racist' as you will get.
I question the whole concept of racism on many levels.
I would argue that racism of the sort purported by the Nazis for example was more about their ambition and self interst than hatred. Hatred was the mechanism generated to justify mass killing. How genuine was it really among the thinking man? It was manufactured for a purpose and deviation from that line was dangerous.

Genuine hatred of one man by another is surely born out of real fear, resentment or insecurity. Hatred of a whole group requires a catalyst to evoke such emotions.
I don't think there are many who have those thoughts and certainly not Boris.
He is just a twit.

The obsession with racism and sexism in this country has achieved Salem witch hunt levels. Both by the state and informally.

It's like being denounced by Stalin......Suddenly an action makes you an undesirable.

To me it's all massive immaturity. It completely fails to recognize human nature.

Simplistic nonsense for people who like black and white concepts. Real racists are hard to find. So instead they lower the standard and devalue the currency....commonsense out the window...Like lawyers describing any physical contact as 'assault'.

I hope those that slagged Abbott off have a similar field day with this pillock.

I am struggling to understand why he's still a part of the cabinet tbh...he's simply a caricature of a bygone era...if he ever becomes their leader it will end up with them out of power for decades...

60m assists vs 1 x tatty marxist are hard stats to argue against tbh...unless of course you're Diane Abbott

I agree that Boris can never be Prime Minister but
neither can Jeremy Corbyn.

I'd elect Corbyn in a heartbeat if it was a straight decider between him and Boris. It is UTTERLY delusional to assume that Bo-Jo is prime ministerial calibre with this interview laying wide open his ineptitude and not for the first time. Shambolic by nature.

So which Tory would you vote for?

None.

No point pandering to the opposition's ideological base.

The success of an election lies amongst getting the 'I don't knows' or 'I don't cares'. Corbyn had some success amongst the youth vote who often can't be bothered. Johnson would have success amongst the 'I don't knows'.

Frankly if the Tories don't elect Johnson as the next leader....whenever that time comes....then they will need their heads examining as they are probably gifting either Labour power or damning the country to this horrible state of minority party governance.

Ok, fair enough ignorant or bigoted seems fairer than racist.

I think John Mann, had he been leader of Labour, might well have delivered a victory for Labour at the current election. I quite like Corbyn, but he's too moralistic for me, lacking pragmatism.

More often preference.

Apparently if you don't like everything equally you're bigoted.

Fairness is far more important than equality....Equality is mainly a human concept which nature ignores.

I agree.

If John Mann were Labour leader a lot of Tories could switch sides.

Labour have more chance of pandering to a Tory base than the Tories have with Labour.....Ukip have better opportunities than the Tories in that sense.

May is a Tory wet really....yet the Labour base hate her...pretty much like they do any Tory.

Closer.
Bigotry is an unreasonable attitude of course and not to be confused with a reasoned point of view based on evidence.
