Using that same logic, why should child refugees and young people across the third world be condemned to a life of poverty and hardship because of 'an accident of birth'. No reason. But when you get something, it is normally at the expense of someone else. That is life.

It isn't an entitlement...Well, their laws decide where the balance lies there.....though obviously where you were born gives you a very strong claim. I'm against the idea of dual citizenship in all but extreme or sympathetic circumstances. For you to say that being against dual citizenship means that you are far right is plainly ridiculous and hyperbolic. Everything is of course in the eye of the beholder but in my view, if that's your eye then it clearly needs a trip to the opticians. Far right indeed. Why should kids live in poverty by accident of birth?

It is not about more rights, it is about circumstances. Trust you think it is ok for different nationalities to have children together, then a lot of countries will naturally allow those children citizenship from both parents. Now in your world view maybe the parents at birth should decide on which one and stick to that. And thanks for your medical advice, but I'd rather trust my own eyes Originally posted by Stirlingsays

So you don't know. Perhaps you should resist the temptation to bandy meaningless figures around. Pretty sure we've been down this route before. UK asylum grants are at worst about 1/5th of UK citizens who emigrate each year. The UK doesn't have a problem with numbers when it comes to asylum grants as statistically they're well below the number of people who permanently leave the UK each year
