It was a 4.5 year deal through June 2018. So it would seem to make sense.Guessing at £15,000 per week, then an annual wage bill would be £780,000. I would suggest on the market his worth,at present, must be a minimum of £5M with all the problems he has had. So we either clear £4M+ next summer,or we have a 1st team squad player. Win/Win situation.

He's apparently on 10k p/w. If we can get a couple of million for him, then it's worth holding onto him until we get a decent offer. Almost correct, that's actually his private health bill.
Clinton is Clinton. I have known him for a long time, I know his mother... Simon Jordan |

Signed a new deal today. Hopefully he will be given more of a chance under our next manager...

I think it's very unlikely he'll ever become some amazing first team Premier League player but I've never wanted to be wrong about something so much before. If he did it'd be one of the best stories in football.

Cheaper than Lee and Sako in terms of wages. No more or less likely to have any impact or play much, but if he did the fans would love it. Rather him than any of that lot on the bench, plus frees up funds to upgrade players if we shift them.

Sorry but sometimes you have to cut your loses. I'd have at least waited until we'd made a managerial appointment before making a decision to renew his contract. It's not like he was going anywhere and there's a whole stack of such decisions to be made. The question you always need to ask yourself is, if he wasn't already here and we were looking at him, even as a free transfer, would you add him to the squad?
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

We don't have a manager so who is making decisions like this on behalf of someone yet to be appointed?
