I may be a c*nt but really, people trying to link football matters to the tragic events in Manchester are the ones being glib.

With regards to Allardyce, no sob story is needed. The man is doing what is right for him and he’s perfectly entitled to.

I hope he takes it easy.

It's only being linked on the basis that there is a news story linking it and this thread is specifically about that. Your comments I'm sure aren't deliberately disrespectful but IF its true that's why he left, that's exactly what they are. My point is we don't know either way so make a measured argument, don't just throw out some sarcasm.

If that's genuinely the way you feel, you would have been far better off not saying anything at all.

Nothing wrong with being a c*nt though, generally I pride myself on being one.

I hate to seem to be churlish but I'm wondering if the death of his friend was just a co-incidence.

The attack on Manchester Arena happened at about 10:30pm on Monday night with no details released of fatalities for a couple of days yet Sam arranged a meeting with Parish in London on the Tuesday morning, cleared out his desk at Beckenham later that day and released his statement on Tuesday afternoon.

If the death of a friend was a major part of his thinking wouldn't Parish have suggested that he sleep on it for a few days rather than rush into anything?

I'm pretty sure it was reported that the meeting was one that was already booked to discuss pre-season, transfers & the year ahead - it just turned out to be the right opportunity for him to discuss his resignation.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

I'm really gutted that Sam has decided to call it a day, although I understand and respect his decision.

It's a myth about Sam playing the long ball game, and he seems to get the best out of what's at his disposal. As far as I'm concerned, he was the best thing to happen to Palace for a good few years.

All the best in your retirement Sam. Thanks for everything.

Totally understand and accept Sam's decision.
I welcomed his appointment with a true belief that his football nous and experience would keep us up.
He achieved this and is worth his weight in gold to us, I wish him a long and enjoyable retirement.

Thank you CPFC2010 for keeping me interested in football, for me no Palace no football either. Come on you Eagles.

When Sam arrived and into the first two months a fair few of us thought he looked jaded and maybe had lost the fire in his belly. He got that second wind thankfully to help us stay up but maybe the first Sam we saw is where he is at really. Good luck to him and a bloody good decision i reckon. He's probably got 15-20 years left. Enjoy yerself Big fella.

Couldn't put it better
