Disagree massively. The squad's pretty damn good. Can't plan for your first 3 choice CB getting injured. We need competition for Ward. Competition for Puncheon on the AM role and we need to try our hardest to secure both Sakho and Zaha. Then with Wickham back to fitness, that'll be a decent squad.

It's not how much you spend. It how you spend it. Can we find better than what we currently have in our squad. My guess the budget will be about 40 to 80 million. As big Sam spoke in his presser about moving to the next level. Which Blackburn didn't match his ambitions. I can't see parish making a similar mistake to the pulis situation.

A few games ago people would have been saying we only need a couple of additions for next season but suddenly after a few bad results it seems half the squad need to go! An additional striker like Defoe, the return of a fit Papa Souare and two or three new players and we will be a comfortable middle of the table side assuming we stay up obviously.

Where's the back up for Wilf , no competition for puncheon role. We lost 20 games in 36 games. Under pulis We stayed up with about 5 games to go with a strike force of Jerome and chamakh. A midfield of kg, Stuart o'keefe and jedinak. I not claiming this players are better, but they certainly had a great mentality. We fell into the trap of buying prem mercenaries like flamini, remy and adebayor. Our scouting has to be the worst in the prem.

Pretty much spot on. Kelly I might consider as a back up player (as he can play full back and centre back) but we need two central defenders, a right back, a goal keeper (Pickford from Sunderland maybe) and a defensive minded midfielder. See, we do sometimes agree - All of those players, except maybe Kelly, I'd say are surplus to requirements over several seasons.

Edited by Dan89 (07 May 2017 1.08pm) He was suffering with back spasms and is stil clearly not over it as he isn't moving right and it has been effecting his performances , he has had more poor games in the last month than he had in the previous two years.

Everything depends on what league we are in. Stay up we need four or five improvements, keeper , midfield , centre backs , Salhouse is not ours . Go down we will have many involuntary losses and will need 8 or 9 to replace and compete at championship level.

Our scouting has to be the worst in the prem. The purchase of Milovojevic alone would suggest otherwise. That was a win for our scouting department. Plus the addition of Sakho has just about saved our season. And before that, Benteke, Tomkins and Townsend have all turned out to be decent additions too. So I challenge that. You're right about competition for Punch. If you read my comment, I mentioned that. And no, we don't have a direct replacement for Wilf. But will we ever find one? It's not necessarily about direct replacements, because if it was, they'd never play. Because a fit Wilf always will. But players can play multiple positions, which make them valuable squad members. If Wilf got injured tomorrow, Puncheon or Chungy would do a decent job, for example. And don't be silly, Stuart O'Keefe barely started a game for us.

We've all seen that. They've just got less reason to bust a gut, as they're certain starters at the minute. That's why they need competition. Hence the comment.

Even tho punch has improved under Sam he is certainly let himself down. I mean here we have a player who for the most part plays the number 10 role. He has made how many assists or scored how many goals? I know parked prob had a hand in ruining his game but come on...i think there must be a bus load of players better to be found in close season that would elevate that part of our game.
